Love Island icon Maura Higgins to make big-screen debut in “feel-good” film opposite Pussycat Doll

Maura Higgins, known for her time on Love Island, is starring in her first movie, a comedy called The Spin. Singer Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls is also in the film.

This charming and feel-good Irish film, directed by Michael Head, will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on February 27th.

The story follows Dermot and Elvis, two friends who love music and co-own a record shop in Omagh, Northern Ireland. When they learn about a potential deal that could rescue their failing business, they hit the road on a journey across the country.

Struggling to pay their rent and facing eviction by their harsh landlord, Sadie, a pair discovers a tempting offer: incredibly rare and affordable vintage records by blues musician Robert Johnson, available for sale in Cork.

They’re racing against time to reach the other side of Ireland, hoping to find a rare vinyl record that could save their shop. With only two days, they set off in a very old, beat-up car. Their trip is full of beautiful scenery, and they meet interesting people and make friends along the way.

This film is inspired by a personal story from Mark McCausland, a musician from Omagh known for his bands The Lost Brothers, The Basement, and McKowski. He also composed the film’s folk-style music.

Director Head described the film as a lighthearted and fun buddy movie, adding, “We had a great time making it, and I hope audiences feel the same way when they watch it.”
