Ben Platt will lead the cast of a new musical debuting this summer, featuring music by the composer of the popular song from KPop Demon Hunters.
Actor Rebel Wilson is collaborating with award-winning composer Mark Sonnenblick to bring the UK premiere of “Midnight at the Never Get” to audiences this July.
This new musical is Steven Platt’s first since ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ in 2015, and it will be his first time directing a complete production in London. The show will be performed at the Menier Chocolate Factory, an Off-West End theatre, from July 11th to September 12th.
Platt expressed his excitement about making his London stage debut at the Menier Chocolate Factory, which will be transformed into a nightclub for the production of ‘The Never Get’.
Working with Mark has been fantastic – he’s an incredibly talented songwriter and a great friend. This project is especially meaningful to me as it’s my first completely original musical since Dear Evan Hansen. We’re excited to collaborate with the brilliant director, David Cromer, to bring this unique and special show to life.

Midnight at the Never Get is a new work created by Sam Bolen, Max Friedman, and Mark Sonnenblick. It’s a love story between two men set in 1950s New York City.
In 1965 New York City, Trevor Copeland and Arthur Brightman fall in love, but their relationship is illegal.
Under the cover of night, Trevor and Arthur perform romantic songs at a hidden nightclub called “Midnight,” a bold act against a society that forces them to conceal their relationship. As a powerful movement for change begins, they struggle with their secret love while facing the growing unrest around them.
Harris Sonnenblick, nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards for his song ‘Golden,’ described the show as a uniquely personal and moving theatrical experience.
He expressed how much the show meant to him, calling it a real privilege to work with Ben again, whom he described as an exceptionally talented performer – someone you don’t see very often.
I’m incredibly honored to collaborate with the talented David Cromer as we bring this work to life for the first time in the UK.
After the announcement, they also revealed a preview of the show’s song, “Mercy of Love.” This emotional ballad highlights Platt’s incredible singing ability.
This year, Platt is heading to London to perform a special concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Last Five Years alongside Rachel Zegler. He’s widely recognized as the original Evan in the acclaimed musical Dear Evan Hansen, a role he later played in the film adaptation.
