Roguelike action RPG Kernel Hearts will now launch on PS5 when it releases later this year.
The game was originally intended for PC only, but it will now also be released on consoles. It’s also partnering with Fortnite for a special collaboration.
If that seems odd, it’s because Epic Games has been working with many game developers to attract players away from Steam. Popular games like Crimson Desert and Honkai: Star Rail are also adding exclusive items to the popular Battle Royale game.
Kernel Hearts lets you create a unique magical girl and team up with others in co-op mode to climb the Tower of Babel.
As you play, you’ll earn new upgrades that make your abilities stronger, much like in games such as Returnal. You’ll also be able to permanently unlock ways to customize your character’s appearance and playstyle.
We generally enjoy the game’s idea and the anime-inspired cutscenes, but we think the levels and enemy characters could use more visual detail and excitement.
I’m really excited about this game, but I’m still waiting to hear when it’s actually coming out! Luckily, the developers, Whitethorn Games, have plenty of time to nail down a release date and make everything perfect before then, which is great!
