During the fourth quarter of the 2026 Super Bowl on February 8th, someone ran onto the field while the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks were playing.
With just over 12 minutes remaining in the game, a man running across the field—shirtless and wearing black sweatpants—was pursued by security. Patriots wide receiver Kyle Williams helped bring him down around the 10-yard line, where approximately eight security guards completed the tackle.
Security removed a fan who ran onto the field, and police later charged them with trespassing, according to TMZ and a Santa Clara Police Department spokesperson. Another person tried to do the same and now faces the same charges.
Although NBC didn’t show it during their Super Bowl LXI broadcast, video of the incident—which briefly stopped the game—quickly spread online.
This isn’t the first time that the Super Bowl has had to deal with a streaker.
During the 2021 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two individuals ran onto the field and were later charged with trespassing, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Both men were sentenced to two years of probation, required to perform 100 hours of community service, and fined $500. They also had to write letters apologizing to the NFL.

Despite a brief interruption from a fan running onto the field, the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in over a decade, defeating the Patriots 29-13.
“This is a dream come true,” said Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker after the game. “Many players never get this far in their careers.”
Cornerback Devon Witherspoon described the win as a fantastic feeling and playfully said he planned to celebrate with a couple of drinks – maybe even three.
