I was totally shocked when a brand new PS4 exclusive game just dropped out of nowhere! It’s been a long time – Sony released the PS4 way back in 2013, and then the PS5 in 2020. I figured that was it for PS4 games, but here we are, six years into the PS5’s life, and this PS4 game is actually happening. The weirdest part? It’s only for PS4, but thankfully, if you have a PS5 or PS5 Pro, you can still play it thanks to backward compatibility. It’s a strange situation, but I’m definitely curious!
Circle 5 Studios and Circle 5 Publishing have released a new first-person shooter for the PS4 called Primal Carnage: Evolution. In this game, players can experience the thrill of both hunting dinosaurs and being the dinosaur, hunting humans. The recently released trailer shows a clear inspiration from classic games like Turok.
An Unexpected PS4 Exclusive
If you’re new to the series, it started back in 2013 with the release of Primal Carnage by Lukewarm Media and Reverb Publishing. A sequel, Primal Carnage: Extinction, followed in 2015, and that’s when Circle 5 Studios took the reins. This latest version is a remastered edition of that second game.
Okay, so this game is seriously cool. It’s a multiplayer game where you can play as either a dinosaur or a human, and it’s all about fighting to the death! What’s awesome is that it’s not just the same old game – they’ve added a bunch of new dinosaurs to choose from, completely reworked how the game plays, and packed in tons of new content. Plus, everything looks amazing – the audio and visuals have been remastered, the textures are all new, the lighting is fantastic, and it runs super smooth at up to 60 frames per second. It’s a huge upgrade!
As a PlayStation gamer, it feels like this might actually be the last game we get that’s only on PS4. Some people argue if it even counts as a true exclusive since it’s a remaster, but honestly, I think it’s going to be the only PS4 exclusive we see all year in 2026. I haven’t heard anything about any other games coming out just for PS4, and at this point, I don’t expect any.
