Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Drops a New Release As Season 2 Continues

The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is set to premiere in January 2026, and the first four episodes are already available. This season will be shorter than the first, with only 10 episodes planned. As Frieren and her companions continue their adventures, they’ll face even greater dangers in some of the world’s most treacherous lands. Even though the Demon King is defeated, demons still pose a threat, especially in the North – making a skilled mage essential for any traveling party. Following the release of Episode 4, a special music video for the ending theme, “The Story of Us,” by Milet was revealed. Milet also performed the popular opening theme, “Anytime Anywhere,” for the first season.

The new ending theme is quickly becoming a fan favorite, and a full music video has just been released featuring scenes from the latest season. The video showcases all the characters who’ve appeared so far—not just the main ones—and emphasizes the connections between Frieren’s current and past companions as they overcome obstacles on their journey. The song’s CD will be available on March 4th, 2026, and you can already pre-order it on Amazon Japan, which will include the new music video as a bonus.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Keeps Surprising Fans in Each Episode

What makes this anime so special is its clever way of connecting the present with the past. The story doesn’t just move forward; it subtly shows us glimpses of what happened before, enriching the current events and making the characters’ choices more meaningful. This technique beautifully conveys the feeling of time passing, creating a quiet and nostalgic experience for viewers.

Season 2 continues the story with the group facing increasingly difficult and dangerous challenges in each episode. While this season is shorter than planned, it will likely cover the Continued Northern Travels and Divine Revolte arcs. There’s a chance the Golden Land Arc will also be included, though its length means it might not be fully adapted this season.

The anime first aired on January 16, 2026, and new episodes are released on Crunchyroll every Friday at 7:00 AM Pacific Time, soon after they air in Japan. While the second season is available on Netflix, it’s currently limited to a few countries in Asia. There’s no word yet on when it will be streaming on Netflix in the US.
