Teddi Mellencamp is marking a bittersweet milestone in her cancer journey.
The former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills marked the one-year anniversary of her diagnosis by sharing a heartfelt message, remembering how lost and confused she felt when she first started experiencing symptoms.
Can you believe it’s been a year? Exactly one year ago today, I ended up in the emergency room thinking I was just dealing with really bad migraines. But things escalated quickly, and within 24 hours, I was undergoing surgery to remove plum-sized, stage 4 tumors in my brain. It was a total shock, but here I am, a year later, and so grateful.
Turning 44 was bittersweet for the mother of three—Slate, 13, Cruz, 11, and Dove, 5—who is currently separated from her husband, Edwin Arroyave. However, she intentionally chose to concentrate on the positive things in her life and what she’s grateful for.
She admitted to feeling anxious about the day, but also incredibly thankful. She expressed her gratitude for the medical professionals who cared for her, her family and friends for their support, and all the love she’d received.
Teddi, who was once told she had a fifty-fifty chance of survival, closed her post by urging her followers to appreciate their health and not take it for granted.
“Trust your instincts,” she concluded. “Get checked.”
The reality star was supported by friends, including her former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Kyle Richards, who expressed disbelief that it had already been a year since Teddi received her diagnosis.

Oh my gosh, did you SEE Kyle’s comment on Ted’s post?! It was just… everything. He wrote, ‘You’re so strong Ted. Even the days you feel like you aren’t,’ and I literally started crying. It’s SO true! And then he said Ted inspires SO many people, and honestly, same! It just made me love Ted even MORE. ‘Love you!’ Kyle wrote, and I’m right there with him! It was the sweetest thing ever.
Although Teddi has been through a lot physically and emotionally over the past year – including brain surgery in February to remove tumors – she’s also received some good news about her health. In October, doctors found no evidence of cancer in her body, and that positive result remained true last month.
Teddi recently competed on season 14 of The Masked Singer as the Calla Lily. She said the experience was particularly meaningful while she was dealing with health issues.
Teddi shared with TopMob News that reflecting on the experience makes her emotional, but she’s proud she was able to push through it, especially considering where she was in her life at the time. It’s a really positive feeling for her.
As someone who follows celebrity wellness closely, I want you to know Teddi isn’t the only public figure who’s bravely battled cancer. If you’re curious to learn about other celebrities who’ve faced similar health challenges, I’ve gathered some inspiring stories for you to read on.
