If you ask Souls fans for the best game in that style not made by FromSoftware, Lies of P is almost always mentioned. The game itself, and its recent Overture expansion, have been very popular with players, and publisher Neowiz has announced that over four million copies have now been sold.
Based on the company’s recent sales numbers, the game has been quite popular. However, because it was immediately available on Xbox Game Pass and as part of the PS Plus Essential subscription last year, many more people have likely downloaded and played it.
Lies of P saw a surge in popularity after the release of its Overture DLC in June 2025, according to Neowiz. The DLC received very positive reviews, earning a Metacritic score of 85.
Neowiz reported that Lies of P earned 90% of its total revenue from players in Western countries, according to their Q4 2025 earnings report.
Looking ahead, a sequel to Lies of P is confirmed, and Round8 Studio isn’t the only one with new games in development. The teams behind Weird West (Wolfeye Studios) and a new studio called Zakazane are both working on exciting projects. Zakazane is creating a western-themed role-playing game with a dark, noir style, and Wolfeye is building a retro science fiction RPG played from a first-person perspective.
In our review of Lies of P on PS5, we gave it an 8 out of 10. We noted that the game feels like it was made by a studio with a lot of experience in the Souls-like genre, which is especially impressive considering it’s Round8 Studio’s first game. Its unique and dark reimagining of the Pinocchio story really makes it stand out.
