The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has a major development.
After Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother went missing from her Tucson, Arizona home almost two weeks ago, investigators have now shared surveillance photos of a person they believe may be connected to the case.
As a longtime follower of this case, I was really disturbed by the newly released photos from Nancy’s property camera. They clearly show someone wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking right up to her front door. Then, shockingly, you can see them punch the camera itself! Police had already mentioned the camera was damaged when they arrived, but seeing it happen like this is just awful.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images and videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was necessary because recording devices had been removed. They were able to recover the video from data still stored on the systems’ servers, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
According to an update this morning, police working with partners have found new images showing someone with a weapon possibly messing with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the day she went missing.

According to an update this morning, police working with partners have found new photos showing someone with a weapon possibly interfering with the security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home on the day she went missing.
These images were released only a day after the FBI stated, according to NBC News, that they hadn’t found any suspects or people they were investigating. The FBI also said they had no information about ongoing contact between the Guthrie family and anyone believed to be involved in the kidnapping.
That day, Savannah—who had already posted videos with her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, speaking directly to anyone who might be holding their mother—asked the public to be on the lookout for any information that could help.
I’ve been following this case closely, and in a video posted on February 9th, the family shared their desperate plea. They said the police are working non-stop to find her, but she was taken and they have no idea where she is. They’re really asking for everyone’s help, and it’s heartbreaking.

Speaking with a sense of urgency, the Today show co-anchor explained that her family was in a very difficult situation. She asked viewers not only to pray for them, but also to contact the police with any unusual information, no matter how small, even if they don’t live near Tucson.
Savannah was thankful for the kindness and help her family, particularly Nancy, had been given so far.

She expressed confidence that her mother could feel their prayers and that God was supporting her, even during this difficult time. They continue to believe their mom is still alive and fighting.
For a timeline of Nancy’s disappearance and the updates in the investigation so far, read on.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Police confirmed to Today that Nancy, age 84, was reported missing by her family on February 1st. A friend noticed she hadn’t been at church that morning and let her family know. After searching her property for about an hour, her children contacted the authorities around noon to report her missing.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he said at a press conference on February 2nd. “This case was particularly unusual based on what officers reported finding at the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide team is called out when there’s a death – a body to investigate. In this case, we sent them based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

Okay, so the police finally said something official! They’ve admitted something bad happened at Nancy’s house. I knew it! I just knew something wasn’t right there. It’s confirmed – a crime happened. I’m so glad they’re acknowledging it, even if it’s terrifying. This is awful, but at least it’s being taken seriously now.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators have confirmed a crime scene after processing the location. He asked for the public’s assistance, noting that the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed to Nancy’s difficulty walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—as a key reason to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
As a lifestyle expert who often consults on sensitive cases, let me tell you, it’s clear she didn’t simply leave on her own. Based on what I’ve been told about the scene, there’s evidence suggesting she didn’t leave of her own volition. There are other details present that point to something more happening at the location.

The search for Nancy is still ongoing, and officials are concerned because she needs daily medication to stay healthy, and she likely doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman under their care is facing health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please come forward. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mental sharpness remains excellent.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t a case of dementia. She’s very sharp and the family wants to assure everyone she didn’t simply wander away. Her limited mobility is simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his hope that she will be found safe.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how deeply her family is affected by the situation.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she shared on NBC’s morning show on February 2nd. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally friends with Nancy, saying, “We love Nancy.”
She continued, saying they were keeping Savannah and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show was at its strongest when it called on the community for help, asking viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
I was so saddened to hear about Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, going missing. I saw a post on Instagram from someone asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to please contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. They even shared the number to help. Let’s all keep Nancy and her family in our thoughts and hope for a swift and safe return.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming picture of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message accompanying the February 2nd Instagram post, Hoda included only a red heart and prayer hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated in a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t believe there is a current danger, but emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to make sure she’s okay.
I heard from someone who spoke to the sheriff – they did talk to her! Apparently, she has a whole security team that’s been working with them all night, but they’re not ruling anything out, which honestly, just makes me even more worried. They’re being so careful, it’s like… something big happened. I just need to know she’s okay!

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was asleep, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing, “We believe in the power of prayer, in people coming together with love and hope, and in the goodness of humanity. Most importantly, we believe in God.”
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would offer comfort and support right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.’ She believed this message held timeless wisdom for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s house, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re looking for,” he said in a report on NBC’s Today show on February 3rd.
I was really glued to the news when Nanos held a press conference a couple of days after Nancy went missing. He walked us through everything that happened leading up to her disappearance, laying out the timeline as he understood it.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained in a press conference on February 5th.
The software showed someone was at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t pay for a subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s just heartbreaking. Apparently, at 2:28 a.m., Nancy’s pacemaker app showed it lost connection with her phone. Then, around eleven fifty-six a.m., her family went to check on her and found she was gone. They immediately called 911 at 12:03 p.m., alerting the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. It all happened so fast, and I’m just hoping for answers.
About ten minutes after that, he explained that when their patrol teams reach the location, they begin responding by deploying search and rescue, along with detectives from different units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to reach their mother and anyone holding her, asking for her safe return.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family stated they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the prevalence of manipulated media and urgently requested undeniable proof that their loved one is still alive and in the possession of those they are addressing.
She explained, ‘My mom is the center of our world and everything to us.’ She’s very frail and lives with constant pain, and unfortunately, she doesn’t have the medication she needs to manage it and improve her quality of life. It’s essential for her health and well-being that she gets the treatment she needs to not only survive but also to ease her suffering.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we urgently need to establish a way to communicate so we can start resolving this.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI Special Agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of an attempt to profit from the situation – authorities described him as an “imposter.” They are also investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ as a serious threat. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting they had received a response to a previous request.
Holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said in the video, “We got your message and we understand. Please, bring our mother back to us so we can celebrate with her. That’s the only thing that will bring us peace.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”
