Another Stranger Things Spinoff Confirmed By Netflix (And It Should Have Happened Before Season 5)

Even though the main Stranger Things series has ended, Netflix plans to continue the story. The show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have announced a spin-off animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. This new series will fill in the gaps between seasons 2 and 3, focusing on the adventures of Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max.

Netflix is planning another Stranger Things spinoff, but many fans feel it’s coming at the wrong time. This new story explores information that would have been helpful to know before watching the final season, Season 5, but wasn’t available then.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow Is (Finally) Coming to Netflix

Good news for fans of Stranger Things: the Broadway play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, will eventually be available to stream on Netflix. But before it hits the platform, Netflix is filming the play with the original cast – including Louis McCartney, T.R. Knight, Gabrielle Nevaeh, and Alex Breaux – over a series of private performances from February 10th to 14th. According to Collider, this will be a professionally filmed version of the stage show, and notably, Alex Breaux will reprise his role from the final season of the Stranger Things TV series.

We don’t have a release date yet for The First Shadow on Netflix, but it shouldn’t take too long to edit the stage play recording into a polished, cinematic experience with synchronized music, dance, and visuals—potentially even better than the live show. Disney successfully did something similar in 2020 with Hamilton, filming the original Broadway cast for a special that premiered on Disney+ during the July 4th weekend. That release was a big hit, and anticipation for Stranger Things: The First Shadow is even higher.
