Why Ariana Grande Wants “a Tiny Mouse” to Play Her in a Biopic

Ariana Grande has a cheesy idea for a movie about her life.

Although the star of Wicked was initially unsure about making a movie about her life—she even joked it should be titled “Don’t Bother Watching”—she did think about who would be a good choice to portray her.

Ariana Grande playfully described herself as “a tiny mouse with subtitles the whole time” in a video shared on Instagram with Backstage on February 9th, adding that she actually wouldn’t mind that at all.

The 32-year-old explained that if her life story were to be made into a film, she’d want it to be a short, charming movie featuring mice acting out the scenes, complete with small subtitles. That’s the only way she’d be interested in seeing it.

Although Ariana Grande isn’t planning a movie about her life right now, she’s been thinking about her career after finishing her role as Glinda in Wicked.

She told Backstage that completing the project felt like the perfect time to add it to her collection of L. Frank Baum books. She feels ready to move on and is happy and grateful to finally finish it.

Ariana shared that she hadn’t acted for about ten years before landing the role in Wicked. She explained that her successful pop music career had unexpectedly grown beyond anything she could have imagined.

Let me tell you, transitioning from being a well-known singer to being taken seriously as an actress wasn’t easy! People had me pegged as that pop star, and it was a real challenge to convince them I had the acting chops to play Glinda. It felt like I was constantly climbing uphill to get them to see me in a new light.

As a lifestyle expert, I often talk about transformation, and this really resonates with me. I had to completely break down my own persona and preconceived notions to truly embody this role. It wasn’t just about acting like someone else, it was about convincing everyone – and myself – that I was that person. It required a lot of internal work to make that believable.

And with Oz now behind her, she can hardly believe that she achieved so much.

You know, it’s incredibly rewarding to lay the groundwork for others to succeed. I’ve been reflecting on that lately, and honestly, even after all this time, I still approach each day with the same excitement and wonder I felt when I first started. It’s that feeling of possibility that keeps me going!
