The Mermaid Mask launches this summer

SFB Games announced that The Mermaid Mask (previously known as The Mermaid’s Tongue), the follow-up to Tangle Tower, will be released on PC via Steam and unspecified consoles this summer. A demo is available to play right now.

According to creative director Adam Vian, their team has dedicated an extraordinary amount of effort and passion to their new project, The Mermaid Mask, resulting in something truly special. Their 2024 survival horror game, Crow Country, unexpectedly became very popular, which briefly shifted their focus – a welcome challenge, as players and critics loved it.

Vian shared that they’re excited to release The Mermaid Mask to players this year. The game has a lot to offer, and it’s a perfect standalone murder mystery for newcomers. Fans of their previous game, Tangle Tower (from 2019), will especially love it and won’t want to miss out.

Here is an overview of the game, via SFB Games:

Following the success of the popular Tangle Tower, comes the newest game in the Detective Grimoire series. Originally starting as a flash game on Newgrounds in 2007, The Mermaid Mask is a clever and beautiful detective mystery that expertly mixes serious topics with playful humor. It’s considered one of the top three highest-rated games on Apple Arcade.

Explore the fascinating and mysterious Mortuga Submarine, filled with unusual discoveries and hidden truths. Deep beneath the waves, near a deserted fishing town, the captain of this extraordinary submarine has been found murdered. Rumors swirl about his identity – some believe he was an immortal who could travel through time, while others claim he was a vampire doomed to live forever in the ocean’s depths.

Question the unusual people inside the submarine – each with a unique voice and brought to life with detailed, hand-drawn animation – and find clues by solving clever puzzles. These puzzles are designed to make you think, try different things, and experience that satisfying moment when you finally figure things out.

The latest installment in the series brings back Edwyn Tiong (known for his work on Loco Motive, Harold Halibut, and Unavowed) and Amber Lee Connors (Jujutsu Kaizen, Demon Slayer, DAN DA DAN, The Outer Worlds 2) as the lovable Detective Grimoire and his witty partner, Sally. The game also features a fantastic supporting cast of voice actors from gaming, anime, film, and radio, with details coming soon.
