Priyanka Chopra Addresses Speculation About Nick Jonas Marriage

Priyanka Chopra is only human.

That’s why the critical comments she received when she first started dating her husband, Nick Jonas, were so difficult for her to process.

“I’m not sure why our relationship bothered so many people,” the 44-year-old explained to Variety in a February 11th interview. “I believe it was a combination of factors – we came from different cultures and religions, and there was a significant age difference. It was really upsetting.”

Despite the rumors, Priyanka revealed that she and her husband, Nick, who she married in 2018, weren’t impacted by them.

She explained that they stopped worrying about what was happening around them and realized it didn’t affect them anymore. She described it as something they’ve become completely unaffected by.

The actress from The Citadel pointed out that the show has been running for eight years. She said if viewers want to predict its failure, that’s up to them, but she’s personally moved past worrying about it.

She says she once doubted whether her partner, a member of the Jonas Brothers and the father of her 4-year-old daughter, Malti Marie, was being genuine with his maturity, or if he was just trying to win her over.

Priyanka shared that she and Nick got married very quickly after meeting, within about six months. She admitted that at first, she questioned if his affection was genuine, thinking it might be a performance. However, she quickly realized Nick is truly sincere, which she finds incredibly inspiring, especially in her line of work where adapting and ‘putting on’ a persona is often necessary.

She continued to praise the singer, describing him as consistently genuine and sincere in every conversation. She noted he began working at a young age and attributed his down-to-earth nature to his wonderful and grounded parents, calling it a truly charming quality.

Priyanka says Nick embodies those traits and has motivated her to develop them in both her personal life and her career.

She shared that being with her husband has helped her embrace her own imperfections. She admires his genuine nature and how comfortable he is being himself, which has inspired her to be more comfortable with her own awkwardness and insecurities. She finds it refreshing and rare to meet someone who is so open and honest, someone who is truly themselves from the start of a conversation.

Nick shared that accepting each other’s unique qualities has been essential for a successful relationship with Priyanka.

The singer explained on the February 4th episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast that their age difference actually brought them closer. At 33, she felt she’d experienced a lot of life and was attracted to someone who offered a grounded perspective, depth, and a desire to build a future together.
