Netflix Is About To Lose a Cult-Favorite Post-Apocalyptic Movie (& It’s Not Streaming Anywhere Else)

Netflix is always adding new movies and shows, but titles are also regularly removed each month. Recently, popular films and series like 28 Days Later, Parasite, and the original series Fate/Apocrypha have left the platform, and more are scheduled to go soon. One particularly beloved post-apocalyptic film from 2013 is also leaving, and it may be difficult to find elsewhere after it’s gone from Netflix.

As a huge movie fan, I just found out we don’t have much time left to watch This Is the End on Netflix! It only landed on the platform in November, but it’s already leaving on March 1st – seriously, streaming services can be so frustrating. This movie is a total blast – a ridiculously funny, apocalyptic horror comedy packed with stars. It’s become a real cult classic, and critics actually loved it (82% on Rotten Tomatoes!), plus audiences seemed to enjoy it too (71% rating). It even did really well at the box office, making over $127 million worldwide. If you haven’t seen it, you need to watch it before it’s gone!

This Is the End Is a Star-Studded Rapture Story With Laughs

If you’re in the mood for a hilarious movie, definitely check out This Is the End. It takes a funny short film from 2007, Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse, and expands it into a completely over-the-top and laugh-out-loud feature film. Starring Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, and others as exaggerated versions of themselves, the movie follows six celebrity friends who are stuck at a party when the apocalypse happens. Trapped inside Franco’s house, they deal with the end of the world – and a lot of hilarious chaos. It’s funny from start to finish!

As a movie fan, I always appreciate when actors aren’t afraid to poke fun at themselves, and This Is the End does that brilliantly. The humor is outrageous and over-the-top because the cast basically plays exaggerated, ridiculous versions of who they are in real life – it’s a hilarious send-up of Hollywood and how people see them. What really makes it work is that these guys are genuinely friends, which leads to incredible improv and chemistry. The funny thing is, while the world is ending outside, they’re stuck inside bickering over silly stuff like running out of food! The cameos are fantastic too – Michael Cera is especially memorable as a wildly inappropriate version of himself, and Emma Watson is great. Ultimately, it’s just a really fun, self-aware comedy that chooses laughs over taking the apocalypse too seriously.

Where to Stream This Is the End After It Leaves Netflix?

Now that This Is the End has left Netflix on March 1st, it’s harder to watch. It’s currently only available to stream on Netflix, and we don’t know yet if it will be added to another streaming service next month. If not, you’ll have to rent or buy the movie online to watch it.
