Despite recent difficulties, Ubisoft has some good news: both Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the Valley of Memories DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage have performed well, offering a positive note for the company.
According to the studio’s financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 (available here), the release of Shadows on the Switch 2 and the Valley of Memories story expansion have both increased the number of active players. Returning the series to feudal Japan with classic parkour and stealth gameplay, and featuring the unique styles of Naoe and Yasuke, Shadows has delivered a Japanese Assassin experience that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Yves Guillemot, the company’s CEO, reported a strong third quarter, and reaffirmed their ongoing restructuring plans. He stated that bookings increased significantly compared to the same time last year, surpassing their projections. This success, he explained, is due to a robust lineup of games and consistently high player engagement, boosted by recent releases and ongoing content updates that players are enjoying.
As a big Assassin’s Creed fan, I was really happy to hear that the Switch 2 version of Shadows seems to be a big win for Ubisoft! It’s been a while since they had a truly successful launch, and after some games that just didn’t quite hit the mark, it’s awesome to see The Brotherhood bringing in some good news. It feels like this game could be a real turning point for them.
