A fresh trailer for the new James Bond game, 007 First Light, is out now, giving fans a better look at the game’s story.
Fans have been waiting a long time for this new James Bond video game, the first since 2012’s 007 Legends. It’s scheduled to be released on May 27, 2026.
IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman games, is creating a new game that reveals the origins of James Bond. Actor Patrick Gibson, known for his role in Dexter: Original Sin, will play Bond as he joins MI6 and undertakes the mission that ultimately earns him the 00 designation.
The trailer reveals how Bond first becomes a 00 agent. It shows his early adventures in Iceland, which impress MI6 and lead to his entry into the 00 program, requiring him to learn a new way of operating.
The video also shows us some of the other characters in the game, like M (played by Priyanga Burford) and John Greenway (played by Lennie James), who team up with Bond in a surprising partnership.
This film reveals a fresh take on James Bond’s beginnings, showing how he first joined the 00 program as a talented newcomer. Even though he can be impulsive, Bond’s instincts, charisma, and abilities will prove he’s worthy of becoming 007 within the Secret Service.

IO Interactive has been creating spy-themed games for over 25 years, and 007 First Light’s senior producer, Theuns Smit, recently told Radio Times Gaming (available as a podcast) that this extensive experience heavily informed their work on the new game. They were able to build on a wealth of past knowledge.
As a huge Bond fan, it just felt right to work on this project. Bond is the original spy, and it was a perfect fit – like putting on a comfortable glove – to be able to add our own creative touch to something so iconic.
