Ubisoft PS1 Game Gets Surprise 30th Anniversary Release Today

Ubisoft delighted fans today by releasing a special 30th anniversary edition of a beloved classic game. With decades of popular titles like Assassin’s Creed, Skull and Bones, Far Cry, and Star Wars Outlaws under its belt, Ubisoft occasionally surprises players with something new. This time, they’ve revisited their archives to bring back a fan favorite, and it’s available to play right now!

To mark the 30th anniversary of the original Rayman game, Ubisoft launched Rayman – 30th Anniversary Edition on February 13, 2026. This isn’t just a simple re-release; it’s a significantly expanded version. The anniversary edition includes five different versions of the original Rayman – playable on PlayStation, Atari Jaguar, MS-DOS, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance – plus over 120 new levels and a documentary about the iconic, limbless character. These levels come from previous expansions like Rayman’s New Levels, Rayman 60 Levels, and Rayman By His Fans.

A Whole Lot of Rayman in a Single Release

Rayman debuted in 1995, created by Ubi Pictures and Ubi Soft. Initially, the game was planned for the Atari ST, but that didn’t work out. It then moved to the Super NES CD-ROM, but after Nintendo cancelled the CD-ROM add-on, it was developed for the Atari Jaguar. Ultimately, Rayman launched with the PlayStation, introducing the character to many players for the first time and becoming a big hit. It was later adapted for other systems like the Super Nintendo, though that version was ultimately cancelled.

The Rayman – 30th Anniversary Edition now includes a previously unreleased prototype of the game originally designed for the SNES console, giving players a glimpse of what Rayman could have been like on the classic 16-bit system. A documentary included with the edition tells the story of the game’s development, featuring almost an hour of interviews with the people who created it. It showcases early concept art, design documents, and sketches, revealing how Rayman evolved from initial drawings into a fully playable game in the early 1990s. This edition also updates the gameplay with modern features like multiple save files, a rewind function, and the ability to instantly unlock all levels.

Rayman is back with a new release that both longtime fans and newcomers are sure to enjoy! It’s been a while since the last Rayman game, Rayman Legends, came out in 2013, so fans will be thrilled to revisit the world of this limbless hero. Ubisoft released Rayman – 30th Anniversary Edition digitally on February 13, 2026, with physical copies expected in June (the exact date hasn’t been announced yet). It’s available now for PlayStation 5 and on Ubisoft Connect PC for $19.99. Don’t miss out on this chance to experience a classic platformer from the ’90s!
