Fans of the anime will have to wait an extra week for the next episode. While the release of Episode 6, and the start of the Divine Revolte Arc, has been delayed from February 20th to February 27th, this delay is actually good news for those who also read the manga, suggesting the anime is adapting a significant portion of the source material.
Even before the second season of Frieren started airing, a listing for the Blu-ray release revealed it would only have 10 episodes. This worried fans because it meant the highly anticipated Golden Land Arc wouldn’t be included this season. However, the recent announcement of the Divine Revolte Arc suggests things may have changed.
The Divine Revolte Arc’s Delayed Release Is Promising For Frieren’s Golden Land Arc
On February 13th, the series released a new piece of artwork to celebrate the upcoming anime adaptation of the popular Divine Revolte Arc. Although there will be a one-week delay before Episode 6 airs on February 27th, fans can expect it to be worth the wait. This arc promises to be the most action-filled of Season 2, potentially matching the excitement of Frieren’s famous fight with Aura from Season 1.
We don’t have an official reason yet for why the anime will be paused the week of February 20th, but it’s probably due to the Winter Olympics being broadcast in Japan. Aside from the break, this news is exciting! Not only is the ‘Divine Revolte’ story arc already fantastic, but it also hints that the highly anticipated ‘Golden Land Arc’ will begin much sooner than fans predicted.
A strong sign that the leaked information was accurate was the complete surprise of the Golden Land Arc. Before the new season came out, there was no mention or even a hint of it anywhere. If a trailer or promotional image had shown Macht, the arc’s main villain, it would have reassured people worried about the season only having ten episodes.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting them to adapt the Divine Revolte Arc at all, especially since there was no hint of it beforehand! It really made me think Season 2 would only be 10 episodes. That’s why this new announcement is so exciting! The way they’re dropping these arc reveals so close to airtime, I’m guessing we won’t even hear about the Golden Land Arc until just a couple episodes before it’s scheduled to start. It’s keeping me on the edge of my seat!
Frieren Fans Now Have a Better Idea of When the Anime’s Golden Land Arc Adaptation Will Be Announced
The ‘Divine Revolte’ story arc in the Frieren manga spans chapters 71 to 76. Considering the anime adapts about two chapters per episode, this arc will likely be covered in episodes 6 through 8 of Season 2. However, because this arc features a lot of action, the anime might dedicate four episodes to it, as it often expands on fight scenes. If the arc concludes in episode 8, that would leave two more episodes for the rest of Frieren Season 2, which seems like a reasonable amount.
The manga has a four-chapter gap between the end of the Divine Revolte Arc and the start of the Golden Land Arc. If the anime continues at a rate of two chapters per episode, the tenth episode of Frieren Season 2 will end right before the Golden Land Arc begins. Based on how the anime announced the Divine Revolte Arc, we can probably expect an announcement for the Golden Land Arc around the time Episode 10 of Season 2 is released on March 27th.
The Divine Revolte Arc is a Hint at the Tonal Shift to Come For Frieren

Many fans have wondered if the Golden Land Arc will be turned into a movie, and that could explain why Season 2 only has 10 episodes. Adapting this story for theaters instead of as part of the anime series would likely require it to be broken up into several parts.
The Golden Land Arc would work well as a movie or two because it’s packed with action but also has a strong emotional core. It seems the writer of Frieren, Kanehito Yamada, continued the fast-paced action style from the Divine Revolte Arc when starting the Golden Land Arc. Divine Revolte feels like a stepping stone, hinting at the more refined and powerful combat system—using Macht and Solitar—that really shines in the Golden Land Arc.
Adapting the upcoming fights into a movie would be great, but the Golden Land Arc is very lengthy – almost 30 chapters. That’s about 10 episodes of content, which is too much for a single 90-minute film. While the arc is exciting, it doesn’t quite reach the scale of something like Demon Slayer to justify a movie trilogy. The best solution might be to divide Season 2 into two parts, similar to Season 1, and use a second 10-episode section to cover the entire Golden Land Arc.
Fans are still wondering about the Golden Land Arc in the Frieren anime, but the announcement of the Divine Revolte Arc has given us some clues. It suggests the Golden Land Arc could still be included in the second half of Season 2, which the creators haven’t revealed details about yet. This also gives us a better idea of when we might hear official news about the adaptation of the manga’s most popular storyline – likely at the end of next month.
