Chris Hemsworth’s newest movie has just been released, marking the start of a busy 2026 for the actor, and it’s already adding to his recent success with another R-rated film.

The new movie, Crime 101, opened in theaters on Friday, February 13th and has received a strong audience score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. This marks the fifth consecutive film for the actor to be well-received by audiences in the past four years, and it’s rated R.

Crime 101 (2026) – As Of 2/15/2026 86% 85%

With an audience score of 76% and a critics’ score of 63%, Crime 101 is the third movie starring Chris Hemsworth to be better received by general audiences than by critics since Thor: Love and Thunder was released in 2022.

I’ve been a fan of Chris Hemsworth for a while, and honestly, Spiderhead was the first movie of his I’ve seen that people really didn’t like. It only got a 30% score on the Popcornmeter – that’s how audiences felt about it – and critics weren’t much kinder, giving it a 39% rating. It’s similar to how Crime 101 was received, actually.

The new thriller, Crime 101, had a somewhat challenging opening weekend at the box office, earning $17.7 million domestically. It’s competing with the romantic drama Wuthering Heights, which premiered on the same day and stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

In a review for ScreenRant, Gregory Nussen noted that the movie Crime 101 is generally successful and stands out as a fresh, exciting crime film reminiscent of classic New Hollywood movies. The film was directed and written by Bart Layton, and is based on a novel by Don Winslow.

Chris Hemsworth will next appear as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Mark Ruffalo, currently starring in Crime 101, will also return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026, reprising his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Year on July 31.

I just saw Crime 101, and it’s in theaters now! The cast is fantastic – Halle Berry is in it, along with Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, and Corey Hawkins. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of any of them.
