Until February 17th, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members can play a classic RPG from Square Enix at no extra cost. If you have the basic PlayStation Plus Essential subscription, this doesn’t affect you. But if you’re on the Extra or Premium tier and have been enjoying the game, you’re running out of time to finish it, and those who haven’t started playing should do so quickly!
Okay, so I heard Saga Frontier Remastered is getting pulled from PS Plus Extra and Premium soon, and I’ve been meaning to try it. Apparently, if you really rush through the main story, you can beat it in about 13-15 hours. That’s a tight squeeze, but doable if you’re dedicated! If you want to see everything, though, expect to spend around 30 hours. Honestly, finishing it before it’s gone is probably a bit much for most of us. But, the smart move is to jump in now, give it a shot, and if you’re hooked, you can always buy it for $24.99 later. That way, you get a taste and decide if it’s worth owning!
A Classic PS1 RPG Redone
If you haven’t played SaGa Frontier, it’s a role-playing game originally released by Square (now Square Enix) in 1997 for the PlayStation. It’s the seventh installment in the SaGa series, and for many players, it was their first experience with the series, as it was the first SaGa game released outside of Japan. While it received a middling score of 71 on GameRankings, it still sold well and gained a dedicated following over time.
Twenty years after the original, SaGa Frontier Remastered was released in 2021. This wasn’t a basic update; it included new characters, events, and features. Although the PlayStation 5 had launched, the remaster was only available on PS4, but it can be played on PS5 through backward compatibility. Critics generally liked the remaster more than the original, giving it a score of 77 on Metacritic.
If you’re not excited about this Square Enix role-playing game for PlayStation 1, don’t worry – there are other choices! A remastered version of a classic Square Enix PS1 RPG is coming out later this month. Plus, PlayStation Plus members will get 10 free games tomorrow.
