5 Most Expensive Pokemon Cards Ever Sold (Including Logan Paul’s Pikachu)

Pokemon cards have become increasingly expensive and hard to find lately. Popular restocks at stores like Costco often sell out quickly, and even new sets like Ascended Heroes are seeing price increases. This has also driven up the value of the rarest cards. Recently, Logan Paul broke the record for the most expensive Pokemon card ever sold, purchasing a PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator card for a staggering $16 million.

Now that Logan Paul’s Pokemon card has become the most expensive ever sold at auction, many fans are wondering what other cards are incredibly valuable. While most of us can only dream of owning these rare collectibles, it’s still interesting to see which ones fetch the highest prices. Here’s a list of the most expensive Pokemon cards sold, as of February 2026.

5) Blastoise Galaxy Star Holo (GCG 8.5)

This incredibly rare Pokémon card was created as a test print during the very first stages of bringing Pokémon to English-speaking audiences. Wizards of the Coast made only two copies of it to show Nintendo as part of their pitch. Because of its extreme rarity, even a card in good condition – like a CGC 8.5 – can be very valuable, and a perfect PSA 10 version hasn’t been discovered yet. It’s a truly unique piece of Pokémon history.

Okay, so get this – back in 2021, a holographic Blastoise Pokémon card sold for a crazy $360,000 at auction! Apparently, this one is the only one anyone’s ever confirmed exists, which makes it the best condition card out there, hands down. The people who bought and sold it wanted to stay private, so who knows if it’ll ever pop up for sale again. It’s wild to think that if another one does turn up, especially if it’s also in perfect condition, it could be worth even more money!

4) English Holo Charizard (PSA 10, Shadowless)

Okay, so everyone loves Charizard, right? It’s right up there with Pikachu as one of the most iconic Pokémon ever. That’s why it’s no surprise some Charizard cards are seriously valuable – we’re talking record-breaking prices! The really sought-after ones are the 1st edition English cards, but here’s the thing: later print runs had a shadow behind the Pokémon’s artwork. So, collectors like me are really after the ‘shadowless’ versions – those are the true 1st editions. They didn’t make many of those to begin with, and finding one in perfect, mint condition – good enough for a 10 from PSA – is super rare and expensive!

A highly graded (PSA 10) 1999 shadowless Charizard card has been a valuable collector’s item for years. It sold for around $370,000 to $420,000 in auctions a few years ago. However, a recent sale in February 2025 saw it go for $45,322. While the price has come down somewhat, it’s still one of the most expensive Pokémon cards available.

3) Silver No. 2 Pikachu Trainer (PSA 10)

Pikachu, the popular face of Pokemon, appears on some of the most valuable Pokemon trading cards. The Pikachu Silver Trophy card is incredibly rare, originally awarded only to winners of special Mega Battle tournaments. It’s believed that only 14 of these cards were ever made, and very few are known to exist today. This particular card is unique because it’s the only one that has received a perfect ’10’ grade from PSA, a card grading service.

In 2023, a highly graded (PSA 10) Silver No. 2 Pikachu Trainer card fetched $444,000 at auction. The sale was handled privately through Goldin, so its current owner and future availability are unknown. While the card features an endearing Pikachu with a silver second-place trophy, its high price is mainly due to its extreme rarity, making it one of the most valuable Pokémon cards ever sold.

2) Pokemon Topsun Charizard Blue Black (PSA 10)

This Charizard card is potentially the rarest one ever created. Its scarcity stems from the fact that it was given away as a promotion by Topsun before the official Pokémon Trading Card Game even existed. The most valuable version is a misprinted card that doesn’t include Charizard’s Pokédex number. Because it came out before the official game, the card’s design is noticeably different from standard cards, making it a special collector’s item even aside from its rarity.

Okay, so this card actually came in a couple of different versions, but the blue and black one is the real prize. I was blown away when I found out a perfect condition (PSA 10) version sold for almost half a million dollars – $493,230, to be exact – back in January 2021 at a Goldin auction. It seems like those perfect 10s are super rare now, most of what you see for sale are PSA 9s. But even those aren’t cheap! Because it’s so rare and everyone wants one, even cards that aren’t flawless are selling for over $36,000. It’s crazy!

1) Logan Paul’s Pikachu Illustrator (PSA 10)

This card is incredibly rare and valuable, with only about 40 ever made. In 2021, it sold for a record-breaking $5.2 million to Paul. It’s become even more famous since then because he often wore it as a gold necklace during his boxing matches.

As a huge Pokémon fan, I was absolutely blown away when I heard about the Pikachu Illustrator card selling for over $16 million back in February 2026! It’s already legendary, but now it’s got all this extra sparkle with the diamonds and gold. Seriously, it’s by far the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold, and honestly, I can’t imagine anything topping it anytime soon considering how rare and special it is.
