Hailey Bieber is getting up close and personal with her skin.
In fact, the creator of Rhode Beauty shared insights into her ongoing battle against chronic acne, detailing her recent experience managing a flare-up of perioral dermatitis.
On her Instagram Stories on July 17th, the 28-year-old shared a picture of a red, inflamed area on her lower cheek. She mentioned that her perioral dermatitis, a skin condition resembling a rash (as defined by The American Academy of Dermatology Association), tends to flare up when she’s traveling extensively, lacks sleep, experiences hormonal changes, uses improper SPF, introduces new skincare products, and feels stressed.
Because Hailey has been managing this skin condition for more than ten years, she is very knowledgeable about treating it. In fact, she revealed the simple routine she follows to soothe her flare-ups – and appropriately, it involves using mild acids and topical creams that focus on reducing inflammation.
She started by saying it was quite simple. She’d splash her face with water, apply Azelaic acid prescription, hypochlorous acid, Clindamycin, and finally a layer of milk.
Hailey, who is married to Justin Bieber and has a 9-month-old son named Jack Blues, has previously spoken about her perioral dermatitis. She experienced a similar outbreak last March, and later in April, she shared her experience of finding skincare products that work for her while still maintaining a radiant look.
She explained on Dear Media’s Breaking Beauty podcast that she has achieved a better equilibrium in caring for her skin as it goes through different stages, stating that just like how a simple outfit can look great, good skincare doesn’t require a lot either.
To be quite honest, I’ve found that the “more is less” philosophy has been the guiding principle for nearly every new product launch I’ve spearheaded here at Rhode. It’s about creating essential, versatile pieces that don’t overwhelm but instead enhance one’s wardrobe and lifestyle.
She shared that it’s unlikely you’ll find her crafting intricate makeup palettes, artistic pens, or similar items as they don’t resonate with her. Instead, she’ll continue to design products that authentically reflect her life, her choices, and the things she truly appreciate.
