The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gets First New Update in Months, Here’s What Changed

Nintendo has just released a new update for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on both the Switch and Switch 2. Updates for the game have been rare since 2023, only happening when Tears of the Kingdom was first released on the Switch 2 last year. It seemed like patching had stopped, but Nintendo has surprised players with this new update to further improve the popular game.

A new update, version 1.4.3, is now available for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a relatively small download and mainly fixes an issue where the Black Hinox at Hyrule Castle wouldn’t register as defeated for some players. Nintendo also says the update includes general bug fixes to improve the overall game experience.

It’s possible that the recent update is the last one for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo doesn’t currently foresee any further problems needing to be fixed, so they’re likely moving on to development of the next Zelda game – which hasn’t been revealed yet. We might hear more about this new project as 2026 progresses.
