PlayStation has consistently offered a solid selection of indie games, but many gamers actually prefer playing them on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Just because everyone’s talking about the big AAA games doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of awesome smaller titles on PS5 too. I was stoked to see Sony just announced they’re bringing 11 of them to us in 2026 – can’t wait to check those out!
You’ve likely heard of these games, but let’s quickly review them just in case anything seems unfamiliar.
Coffee Talk Tokyo is the newest game in the relaxing series where you play as a barista and listen to customers’ stories. It was pushed back to a May release, but fans of the earlier games are hoping it will be worth the wait.
Fishbowl, a project from Sony India, is coming in April. The show centers on a young woman starting a work-from-home job in a new apartment, and it appears to tackle challenging themes. It’s shaping up to be a compelling watch.
Hela is a charming co-op platformer coming out later this year where you and up to three friends play as adorable mice. It looks really fun!
We’re excited for the April release of inKONBINI! The game lets you experience working at a Japanese convenience store – you’ll be stocking shelves and helping customers. It looks like a really relaxing and immersive game, and we can’t wait to play.
The PlayStation Blog recently highlighted Mina the Hollower, the upcoming action game from the creators of Shovel Knight. After a long development period, the game is now expected to launch in Spring 2026, meaning it’s just a few months away – assuming everything goes smoothly.
Mortal Shell 2 is a challenging action game similar to the Souls series. The first game showed promise, and we’re excited to see a sequel is coming out this year.
I’m really excited about MOUSE: P.I. for Hire! It’s a first-person shooter with a cool, old-school black and white animation style. It looks amazing, but I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet to see how it actually plays. Good news is, it’s coming out on March 19th, so I won’t have to wait long to find out!
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse might be a mouthful, but the game looks fantastic. It’s a challenging action game where you play as a hat that can take control of enemies, letting you use their abilities to help you survive. It’s launching on March 5th.
Next up is ONTOS, a new horror game from the creators of SOMA. It’s set in a disturbing sci-fi world and promises a deeply unsettling experience, but like SOMA, it also aims to tell a story that will make you think. You can expect it to be released in 2026.
Out of Words is a visually stunning stop-motion animated game. While the graphics and animation are top-notch, we’re eager to see how fun the gameplay actually is in this co-op platformer. We expect to have a full review soon.
Next up is Over the Hill, the new game from the creators of Art of Rally. Unlike their previous title, this one focuses on open-world off-road exploration and customizing your vehicle, rather than competitive racing. It’s scheduled for release on PS5 in 2026, and it’s the only game on this list we haven’t covered yet.
