Lee Cronin’s upcoming film is predicted to be one of the scariest movies of 2026, marking a revival of a beloved franchise. The official trailer for the long-awaited reboot just dropped after a two-year wait.
The new film, a reimagining of The Mummy, is a collaboration between New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse, and will be shown in theaters globally by Warner Bros. Director Lee Cronin, known for Evil Dead Rise, brings a fresh and frightening approach to this classic Universal Monster story. The Mummy is scheduled to hit theaters on April 17th, two years after the project was first announced.
A teaser released earlier this year hinted at a dark secret with the phrase, “Some things are meant to stay buried,” and posed the question, “What happened to Katie?” The recently released official trailer now provides more information about Katie and her story.
The video starts after a livestream featuring a coffin. It opens with Katie’s parents getting a phone call with the news that their daughter has been found. Thankfully, she’s alive, but she has changed.
The Mummy premieres in theaters on Apr. 17.
