A new comedy film made for Netflix was the most popular movie on the streaming service last week. The live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon” came in second. “How to Train Your Dragon” started streaming on February 10th, while the comedy premiered a few days later, on February 13, 2026.
Joe’s College Road Trip tops Netflix movies list with How to Train Your Dragon as runner-up
I was so excited to see that Joe’s College Road Trip was the number one movie on Netflix last week, between February 9th and 15th! It’s another hilarious addition to Tyler Perry’s Madea universe. The movie follows Madea’s brother, Joe, as he tags along on his grandson’s college road trip. It’s amazing how Tyler Perry not only wrote and directed it, but also plays multiple characters – including both Madea and Joe himself! He was even a producer on the film, which just shows how much of a creative force he is.
How to Train Your Dragon remained popular, holding the #2 position this week. Rounding out the top 10 were The Investigation of Lucy Letby, Homefront, Overboard, Flipped, KPop Demon Hunters, A Father’s Miracle, The Black Phone, and Night at the Museum.
Most of these films are newly popular on Netflix, appearing in the top charts during their first or second week. But “KPop Demon Hunters” is an exception – it’s been on the list for an impressive 35 weeks.
Critics and viewers have had a mixed reaction to Joe’s College Road Trip, which currently has a 50% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, because the Madea films are so popular, many people are expected to watch it on Netflix after it becomes available.
The recent fantasy hit, How to Train Your Dragon, starring Mason Thames and Gerard Butler, earned over $636 million worldwide. It’s been well-received by critics, currently holding a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 261 reviews.
