Adult Swim is bringing back a key creative force from one of their live-action shows to develop a brand new animated series. The network is known for its original and unique animated content, and that trend is continuing with exciting shows already airing each week. They’ve also got a lot of new projects in development, and the latest one promises to be particularly unusual thanks to this returning creator.
Adult Swim is bringing a new animated series called My Two Cars to its lineup. Created by Dan Licata and Joe Pera – known for his live-action show Joe Pera Talks With You on Adult Swim – the series is delightfully strange. Each episode centers around the main character’s daily dilemma of choosing which of his two cars to drive. You can get a first look at My Two Cars below.
My Two Cars Coming to Adult Swim

Adult Swim has greenlit a new animated series called My Two Cars. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, the show is created by Dan Licata, known for his work on Saturday Night Live and Teenage Euthanasia, and Joe Pera, who is collaborating with the network for a second time. Animation will be handled by Green Street Pictures, the studio behind the Emmy-nominated Common Side Effects.
The new show, My Two Cars, will star Licata as Keith Asshole. Adult Swim describes the premise: Keith owns both a PT Cruiser and a Mini Cooper, leading to a chaotic and challenging daily life as he struggles to decide which car to drive. However, some are questioning whether this simple concept can sustain a full season of episodes.
What Is My Two Cars Anyway?
The creators of the series were aware of the challenge of expanding a simple idea into a full season. In a statement, Licata and Pera acknowledged the show’s basic premise—good characters and cool cars—and expressed gratitude to Adult Swim for taking a chance on it. Adult Swim is also enthusiastic about the project and looking forward to seeing where it goes.
According to Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, most shows don’t tackle life’s big questions, but “Joe Pera Talks With You” and its creators certainly do. He specifically praised their willingness to even consider something as simple, yet perplexing, as choosing a car. The show ran for three seasons on Adult Swim, and it’s unclear how long this new iteration will last.
