Kristen Bell, known for her role in The Good Place, is joining the cast of the next Sonic movie, continuing the popular film series based on the SEGA video game character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bell will be the voice of Amy Rose, a cheerful hedgehog who really likes Sonic – sometimes to a funny, over-the-top degree, which often leads to amusing interactions between them. She appeared briefly at the end of Sonic 3, saving Sonic from robotic duplicates of Metal Sonic, continuing the movie’s habit of revealing new characters during the credits.
Okay, so Amy Rose is really insistent that she and Sonic are a couple, but honestly, Sonic doesn’t really feel the same way. It’s cool to see Colleen O’Shaughnessey voicing her again! Speaking of the upcoming Sonic movie, the cast is amazing – Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey are all coming back! There’s a lot of buzz that the new story might pull some inspiration from Sonic CD, which is awesome because that’s where Amy and Metal Sonic first showed up back in ’93.
The movie won’t be out until March 19, 2027, which is quite a ways off. But don’t worry, SEGA may release a new Sonic game before then to keep fans entertained!
