Kaiju No. 8 Reveals the Defense Force Back in Action In Season 2 Premiere Promo

In just under 24 hours, we’re about to witness the return of “Kaiju No. 8” Season 2! The creators at Production I.G. have unveiled the final trailer for the season premiere. Get ready for Kafka, Kikoru, Reno, and Mina to storm back onto our screens on July 19th. This series made a grand entrance in 2024, receiving rave reviews from fans for its thrilling adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s beloved manga. The ending of Season 1 brought a significant change within the Kaiju Defense Force, and we can expect Season 2 to jump straight into the action when it airs on Crunchyroll.

The eagerly awaited second season of “Kaiju No. 8” is set to be a standout in the Summer 2025 anime lineup. As Season 1 concluded with their base being destroyed by Kaiju No. 10, Kafka revealed his own kaiju abilities to rescue his comrades. The snapshots suggest Kafka’s return to active duty following a temporary reprieve, while Kikoru, Reno, and Iharu have been relocated. Specifically, Kikoru has been transferred to the First Defense Force, where she encounters Japan’s most powerful anti-kaiju fighter, Gen Narumi… but finds him unlike she anticipated.

The assault by Kaiju No. 10 has caused severe damage to Tachikawa Air Base, potentially plunging Japan into a new era of turmoil. The whereabouts of Hibino Kafka, who was detained as “Kaiju No. 8,” are currently unknown. Meanwhile, the newly inducted members of the 3rd Unit have been reassigned to other units and given fresh missions in various locations. I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and sadness as a dedicated fan of Kaiju No. 8. The upcoming Season 2 of Production I.G.’s anime has everyone buzzing with excitement, yet we’re also grappling with the news that Matsumoto is stepping away from the manga. As of July 18th, the 127th and final chapter unfolded on Shonen Jump+, marking the end of an incredible journey for us readers.

If Season 2 of the anime continues to thrive, it’s likely that Production I.G.’s series will endure for several more seasons. Furthermore, the second manga spin-off, titled “Kaiju No. 8: Relax“, penned by Kizuku Watanabe, is still in progress.
