Nintendo has unexpectedly released Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the new Switch 2. You can download it now from the eShop, and a physical copy will be available in stores on April 16th. If you already own the game on the original Switch, you can upgrade to the Switch 2 version with an Upgrade Pack, but it will require a purchase.
While games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park and Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World include extra content, this version simply improves performance. The Switch 2 version runs up to 60 frames per second and displays in up to 4K resolution, giving the open-world game a significant visual upgrade – and that’s all.
Now that a new Nintendo console is on the horizon, fans are wondering if Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 will be enhanced for it, given how well those games sold. It’s also possible that MonolithSoft is already working on a completely new game designed specifically for the new console, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement.
