The long-awaited Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie has arrived for Japanese viewers, but global fans must be patient for another two months before catching it in cinemas. American audiences can look forward to seeing the first part of Infinity Castle on September 12th, 2025. The anime will conclude its thrilling narrative in a three-part series, focusing on the most intense fight scenes from the series. As the story is action-packed, each character will have their moment to shine, with Tanjiro Kamado leading the way. Naturally, beloved characters like Giyu Tomioka won’t be left out and will receive their well-deserved attention.
In the series, Giyu Tomioka is the initial Hashira introduced and the one who guided Tanjiro Kamado on the path to become a Demon Slayer as a means to save his sister. Despite it being uncertain, this option gave Tanjiro hope and ultimately strengthened Giyu’s bond with him. As the story progresses, Giyu remains a crucial source of support for Tanjiro. When Giyu found himself in a difficult situation, there was no one else Kagaya could have trusted more than Tanjiro to assist the Hashira. Prior to the Japanese release of the film, the Demon Slayer voice actors convened for promotional purposes, where Takahiro Sakurai, Giyu’s voice actor, discussed his feelings during a special episode in the Hiashira Training Arc featuring Giyu and Tanjiro.
Giyu’s Voice Actor Reflects on Tanjiro’s Support Towards Giyu
On July 11th, 2025, an anime hosted a Pre-Release Spiritual Gathering at Zojoji Temple in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, as reported by Mantan Web. Sakurai expressed, “In the first episode of Kamado Tanjiro: Unwavering Resolve Arc, I recall my initial encounter with Tanjiro at the start of the tale and extending a hand to him based on my instinct. However, in the second episode of the Hashira Training Arc, he reached back to me, offering encouragement. It was astounding to feel the passage of time.
During the initial recording, I never thought it would turn out like this, which is why I too became quite emotional during the Hashira Training Arc, as Sakurai further explained.
Towards the conclusion of his address, Sakurai faced Hanae and conveyed his appreciation by saying, “Thank you, Tanjiro, for evoking those feelings in me.
In the Hashira Training Arc, we were given a glimpse into Giyu’s sorrowful history and the heavy load of emotions he carried. For someone like Giyu, Tanjiro’s infectious optimism might have been too overwhelming, but after Tanjiro’s persistent encouragement, Giyu consented to share his past. Since Tanjiro had always appreciated Giyu’s assistance, he didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to fulfill Kagaya’s wish, who was bedridden due to illness. In this way, Tanjiro managed to help Giyu gain clarity and find the motivation to keep moving forward. The scene was deeply moving, marking a significant milestone for Giyu as he has been gradually learning to let go of his past and evolve as both a swordsman and an individual.
