In every hero’s story, there’s a formidable adversary to challenge their heroics. Remarkably, DC Comics boasts some exceptional heroines, and their villainesses share that distinction. Many of these villains act out of anger, vengeance, or simply for the thrill, earning their place in this list. These are the women who consistently stir up chaos for the forces of good in DC, whether they possess superpowers or not.
Although several DC villainesses have switched allegiances towards goodness, a handful continue to operate independently according to their own code. Let’s take a look at the top 5 DC women who excel in wickedness.
5) Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller isn’t your typical supervillain in a cape and mask; instead, she’s a shadowy government operative who has recently taken on a significant antagonist role. Known for causing trouble for both her subordinates and the heroes she clashes with, Waller is relentless in her pursuit of global control as a new strategy in her career.
In the Absolute Power contest, she performed a significant leap, establishing herself as a formidable adversary to both heroes and villains across DC. By literally stripping them of their powers, she was on track to accomplish her grand scheme, but was thwarted by Green Arrow – who happened to be a secret ally of hers at the time. Now, “the Wall” is incarcerated, but it’s just a question of when she returns.
4) Poison Ivy

As a passionate cinephile, I find myself drawn to the intriguing character of Poison Ivy from the Batman universe. Though she’s often considered a contentious choice, her role as an eco-terrorist and Batman’s nemesis is undeniable. Despite the occasional shift towards anti-hero status, she primarily resides on the villainous spectrum. Her unwavering dedication to preserving plant life, regardless of its impact on human lives, undoubtedly places her at odds with virtually everyone. It’s this intense focus that makes her a captivating and complex character to watch unfold on screen.
Despite undergoing a transformation in her character from being purely malicious to having shades of good, particularly through her association with The Green like Swamp Thing, her abilities have grown significantly. This growth has made her a greater danger than before.
3) Granny Goodness

In Darkseid’s army, it’s Granny Goodness who takes on a prominent role. Commanding the Female Furies and maintaining control over a captive child militia in the X-Pit, she is a chilling presence within Darkseid’s forces. She has an insatiable taste for tormenting individuals, finding enjoyment in it. Even without Darkseid, she would likely continue with her atrocious deeds, as she is that wicked.
As a passionate cinephile, I must confess that despite her apparent affection towards the Furies and Barda, there’s no denying her inherent wickedness – a trait she proudly bears as a native of Apokolips.
2) Talia Al Ghul

Talia al Ghul, who is both the daughter of the Demon’s Head and a former lover of Batman, plays a dual role as an insider for her father while also being a highly skilled assassin on her own. She later gave birth to Damian, Bruce Wayne’s son, which established a direct connection between the al Ghul family and Bruce Wayne. This act was villainous in nature. Talia has further solidified herself as one of the leaders within the Leviathan organization and is recognized as one of Batman’s most formidable adversaries. In recent times, she has become increasingly more dangerous, and it is possible that she could pose a threat even greater than her father ever did.
1) Cheetah

Two years following Wonder Woman’s debut, we encounter her arch-nemesis, Cheetah. Originally an archeologist named Dr. Barbara Minerva, she received the powers and abilities of a cheetah from the gods to combat Wonder Woman. Driven by both intense hatred towards Diana and deep-seated jealousy, desiring to emulate everything about her, Barbara embarks on a mission to dismantle all that Wonder Woman stands for. Cunning and deadly, she is always on the hunt for Diana, making her one of the most significant villainesses in DC Comics lore.
