As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel the excitement brewing as we delve deeper into the harmonious blend of Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). When the MCU initially burst onto the scene, the rallying cry was “It’s All Connected.” Though this mantra has had its highs and lows, I must admit there’s more unity under the Marvel banner than ever before. The crown jewel of the MCU is none other than Avengers: Endgame, a movie that brought the Infinity Saga to an epic close and vanquished the menacing Thanos who had been looming over Earth’s mightiest heroes.
Marvel Comics, renowned for their monumental events, now find themselves drawing inspiration from the MCU for what promises to be an Ultimate Universe event that will leave fans spellbound!
Yesterday’s teaser for “Ultimate Endgame” was followed by promotional artwork mimicking the poster of “Avengers: Endgame”. The upcoming “Ultimate Endgame” is a new event series set to start in December, with further details to be shared at the Marvel Comics: Ultimate Universe Panel during San Diego Comic-Con on July 26th. This panel will feature Jonathan Hickman, Deniz Camp, and others.
Regarding the artwork named “Ultimate Endgame” by Stonehouse, it beautifully embodies the vibe of the Avengers: Endgame poster featuring Earth’s remaining powerful heroes. Characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye, Bruce Banner, Okoye, Ant-Man, and more are all present. In this Ultimate Universe version, Captain America takes center stage in the Ultimate Endgame poster much like his MCU equivalent. He is accompanied by Wasp, Maystorm, Doom (Reed Richards), Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron Man, and The Maker (Evil Reed Richards).

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I must say that what’s striking about the poster for “Ultimate Endgame” is its authenticity. It bears the genuine names of the characters and creative minds behind it, which is truly remarkable when you consider the “Avengers: Endgame” poster. But here’s the question on everyone’s mind: Is “Ultimate Endgame” really the concluding chapter for the Ultimate Universe? After all, “Avengers: Endgame” was the culmination of more than 20 films and a decade-long narrative, leading to the epic battle between the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy against Thanos. Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe is still in its infancy, with only two years under its belt, far from needing a reboot.
If Ultimate Endgame aspires to match the impact of Avengers: Endgame, it faces a considerable challenge given the immense anticipation following the devastating cliffhanger in Avengers: Infinity War. The audience was left breathless as Thanos eliminated half of humanity, and they yearned to witness the Avengers triumph. The crowd erupted when Captain America wielded Thor’s hammer, and the poignant moment when Cap rallied his team with “Avengers Assemble!” brought on a wave of emotions. Even the heart-wrenching sacrifices made by Black Widow and Iron Man left viewers in tears. Will Ultimate Endgame be able to elicit such emotional investment within a shorter timeframe? It’s going to be exciting to see how it unfolds.
