2026 is proving to be a letdown for fans of Demon Slayer. There’s been no news about the second part of the Infinity Castle arc, and no new releases are planned. The first part of the trilogy came out last July and quickly became a huge hit, earning over 100 billion yen worldwide after its September 2025 release. However, even months later, there’s still no confirmed date for when fans can stream it. Instead, Japan continues to host special screenings – including one on February 14th, 2026, at TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro to celebrate Shinobu Kocho’s birthday – which keeps delaying the streaming release. Shinobu became especially popular after the film, where her battle with Doma was a major highlight.
Fans can look forward to a special greeting from the Mini Corps version of the character, and the theater seats will feature artwork of Shinobu. However, this unique screening is only available at one location in Japan, limiting access to a small number of fans. Luckily, the film is also coming back to U.S. theaters in March. This time, it will be shown using SCREENX, a cinema format that wraps the screen around the audience with a 270-degree view. While this brief return to theaters is great news, it unfortunately means the release date for streaming the film will be delayed again.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Won’t Be Returning With Part 2 This Year

This is the first year since 2019 that a new installment of the anime – a season, movie, or even additional episodes – hasn’t been released. The story arc, ‘Infinity Castle,’ is being turned into a three-part movie, and so far, only the beginning of the action has been shown. Because it’s the longest story arc in the series, most of the exciting moments will be in the next two movies. The second movie will shift focus to other characters, like Kanao Tsuyuri and the rest of the Hashira, who are also stuck inside the Infinity Castle.
The Demon Slayer Corps is in a frantic search to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and stop his reign of terror, but the powerful Upper Moons are making it incredibly difficult. Their battle against these demons happens within the Infinity Castle before the story culminates in a final showdown – the Sunrise Countdown – where Muzan faces the entire Corps alone.
It’s been several months since the first movie came out, and we still haven’t heard anything about the second part. This likely means it won’t be released this year. We might get a sneak peek like a key visual or short trailer before the year is over, but there are no confirmed plans yet. The anime itself doesn’t have any big announcements for this year, but starting in April 2026, the original series (excluding the recent movie) will be broadcast on several Japanese TV channels, including Fuji TV.
