Beloved comedian Catherine Tate will be back on stage in London’s West End this spring, reprising her role in the popular show, Oh, Mary!
The actress who previously appeared in Doctor Who will now play Mary Todd Lincoln, replacing Mason Alexander Park, who has held the role since January.
The show ‘Tate’ will run at Trafalgar Theatre from April 27th to July 18th. Scott Karim will join the cast on March 16th, playing the role of Mary’s Husband.
This performance will be the actress’s first time back on stage since she starred in last year’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, at the London Palladium, and the horror drama, The Enfield Haunting.
The play ‘Oh, Mary!’ has been a big hit in London, receiving many five-star reviews and is expected to do well at the Olivier Awards in April. It previously won Tony Awards for Best Actor and Best Direction after a successful run on Broadway.
This darkly funny show focuses on Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks before her husband’s assassination. It portrays her struggles with unfulfilled love, alcohol, and hidden feelings, and it’s a surprisingly upbeat exploration of the often-overlooked life and ambitions of Mrs. Lincoln. The play runs for 80 minutes and has no intermission.
Here’s what you need to know.
