As a huge animation fan, I was really bummed to hear Netflix is taking down one of the best animated movies we’ve seen in ages! It’s based on those wonderful Peter Brown books, and honestly, it’s just a feel-good movie with an incredible voice cast. The story is simple – it’s all about accepting who you are and celebrating what makes everyone different – but it’s so heartwarming. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and I think it’s a movie both kids and adults will genuinely love and remember for a long time.
Featuring the voices of Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Conner, and Bill Nighy, The Wild Robot is a visually stunning and heartwarming animated film. It’s currently earning rave reviews from both critics (97%) and audiences (98%). The story centers on Roz, a robot who crash-lands on a deserted island. She has to learn to survive in this new, wild place, forging connections with the animals and eventually becoming a mother figure to a young gosling named Brightbill.
It Perfectly Captures the Joy of Being Alive
Despite familiar themes, The Wild Robot offers a fresh and emotionally impactful story, particularly within the animation genre. The film honestly portrays difficult realities like life and death, but handles these moments with sensitivity, acknowledging them as natural parts of existence rather than dwelling on negativity. Film critic Marta Medina Pérez of mundoCine (who gave the film 4 out of 5 stars) notes that The Wild Robot demonstrates that original, heartfelt stories are still possible in a genre that has recently lost some of its creative spark.
Film critic Ester Zuckerman praises The Wild Robot, noting that while its themes are straightforward, the movie is beautifully made. She describes it as a rare children’s film with stunning, hand-painted backgrounds and a sincere heart. The movie tells a familiar story with remarkable care, creating animation that feels more like an illustrated book than a typical film.
