‘Wednesday’ Season 3: Netflix Confirmation, Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know So Far

Everyone’s heard the saying, “Bad things come in threes.” And now, Wednesday is back for a third season on Netflix! The show quickly became a huge hit because it captures the spooky, whimsical style of director Tim Burton, mixed with a story about growing up. The series follows Wednesday Addams, brilliantly played by Jenna Ortega, as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy, a school for students with superpowers who are considered outsiders. On top of dealing with normal teenage issues, Wednesday—a gifted detective—also solves mysteries at the school, much like a young Nancy Drew.

The first season of the show, with eight episodes, launched on November 23, 2022. Almost three years later, Season 2 premiered on August 6, 2025. Now, with recent news about who’s joining the cast for Season 3, Wednesday is being talked about again. Here’s a look at everything we currently know about the upcoming third season.

Netflixed Has Confirmed ‘Wednesday’ Season 3

Netflix

Netflix has already greenlit Season 3 of Wednesday, even before Season 2 was released last August. This is a rare move for the streaming service, but Wednesday‘s popularity makes it a clear success. In the first week Season 2, Part 1 was available, viewers watched 3.75 billion minutes of the show – that’s about 50 million views! It was the second most-watched title in a week for all of 2025, only behind Season 3 of Squid Game. When Season 2, Part 2 premiered, it received 28.2 million views, which was slightly lower than the viewership for the first part.

Netflix has announced that Season 1 of Wednesday is now the most popular show of all time on their platform, surpassing even seasons 3 and 4 of Stranger Things. While viewership dipped for the second part of Season 2, Netflix believes the show is a hit and has renewed it for a third season. Season 3 will also have eight episodes, though it’s currently unknown if those episodes will be released all at once, or in two parts like the second season.

The Series Regulars and Supporting Cast for ‘Wednesday’ Season 3

Viewers can look forward to seeing the familiar faces of Wednesday return for Season 3. The main cast includes Jenna Ortega, as well as Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s close friend and roommate. Hunter Doohan will reprise his role as Tyler Galpin, Wednesday’s enemy and the Hyde monster. Joy Sunday returns as Bianca Barclay, a Siren and Wednesday’s friend. Georgie Farmer is back as Ajax Petropolus, Enid’s former boyfriend, and Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, one of Wednesday’s friends. Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will play Ritchie Santiago, the sheriff of Jericho who sometimes helps Wednesday, and Evie Templeton returns as Agnes DeMille, another of Wednesday’s friends. Billie Piper will be seen as Isadora Capri, a werewolf and music teacher at Nevermore.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Wednesday without the rest of the Addams family:

Actor Character Outcast Classification
Catherine Zeta-Jones Morticia Addams – Wednesday’s mom Dove
Luis Guzmán Gomez Addams – Wednesday’s dad Former Spark
Isaac Ordonez Pugsley Addams – Wednesday’s younger brother Spark
Fred Armisen Fester Addams – Wednesday’s uncle Spark
Victor Dorobantu Thing – Wednesday’s right-hand man Disembodied Hand
Joanna Lumley Hester Frump – Morticia’s mother and Wednesday’s grandmother Raven

Let’s talk about the new faces joining Season 3! Eva Green will play Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister and Wednesday’s aunt. Other new cast members include Winona Ryder (appearing as a guest star), Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. Interestingly, Ryder, Sarandon, Green, and Taylor have all worked with director Tim Burton before. Ryder is a long-time Burton collaborator, having starred in films like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the recent Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Sarandon famously voiced Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Taylor last teamed up with Burton on the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Green was in his 2016 movie Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

What Will ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Be About?

Netflix

Okay, so we don’t have a full preview of Season 3 yet, but looking back at how Season 2 ended, I think I have a good idea of where things are headed. Remember how Enid finally became the Alpha and transformed to save Wednesday? She’s stuck as a wolf now and ran off after helping her. Then Wednesday asked Uncle Fester for help and they went to Canada to find Enid. Meanwhile, poor Tyler, after losing his mom and uncle, drove off with Capri to find a place where people like him – other Hydes – could gather. And sadly, we said goodbye to Headmistress Weems, who passed away after guiding Wednesday. It’s going to be a busy season, I can feel it!

Okay, buckle up, because the season finale threw a major curveball at us! Just when we thought Aunt Ophelia was gone for good, the show revealed she’s actually alive. Wednesday, while digging through her aunt’s old journals, had a seriously creepy vision – Ophelia locked up in Grandmama Frump’s mansion, frantically writing ‘Wednesday Must Die’ on the wall. It was a quick shot, though – we only saw the back of her head, which just adds to the mystery and leaves you with a ton of questions!

Season 3 will likely focus on Wednesday and Fester’s quest to help Enid, who is now permanently a werewolf, and Wednesday’s attempts to understand her psychic connection to Ophelia—and the meaning behind Ophelia’s ominous message, “Wednesday Must Die.” We’ll also see more of what happened to Tyler and Capri after they fled to the Hyde sanctuary. Building on Season 2’s exploration of family and the Addams’ hidden history, Season 3 promises to reveal even more secrets, particularly those surrounding Ophelia and her connection to Wednesday’s family.

‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Might Release in 2027

Netflix

Okay, so I’m getting word that production on Wednesday Season 3 is officially happening right now in Dublin! It’s been a bit of a wait – nearly three years since Season 2 – but that was largely down to the Hollywood strikes in 2023. Netflix seems to like releasing new seasons of their big fantasy and sci-fi shows about every two years, so my guess is we’re looking at a mid-to-late 2027 release date, assuming everything goes smoothly. Fingers crossed there aren’t any unexpected hiccups during filming!

Despite everything, people are really looking forward to the next season of Wednesday. Let’s hope it arrives quickly, like a snap of Thing’s fingers!
