God of War TV series casts Game of Thrones and Deadpool star as adaptation’s major villain

The TV series based on God of War is still looking for actors, and they’ve now cast someone to play a key villain from the game.

Prime Video’s new series will be based on the recent reboot of the popular game franchise, centering on its stories inspired by Norse mythology.

After teasing several character announcements recently, the show’s creators have officially confirmed that Ed Skrein will play the villain, Baldur.

While many recognize Joe Skrein from his performance as Ajax in the 2016 film Deadpool, he’s also been in popular series and movies like Game of Thrones, Rebel Moon, and Jurassic World.

So, in the new God of War game, I’m gonna be playing as the youngest son of Odin, and Mandy Patinkin is voicing him! I’ll be going head-to-head with Ryan Hurst, who’s playing Kratos, which is pretty awesome.

Okay, so I’ve been reading about Baldur, and apparently, he’s Odin’s son – but not the chill one. They’re saying he’s actually the most dangerous of Odin’s kids. He’s super charismatic, totally unpredictable, and has a seriously cutting wit. Basically, he does whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Sounds like a tough opponent!

I’ve always been fascinated by Baldur’s story. When he was young, he received this terrible curse – it basically took away his ability to feel anything good, or even physical sensations. It’s no surprise that made him incredibly angry and fueled this intense bloodlust. That’s why he fights the way he does – he’s all about raw power and just hitting incredibly hard, relying on brute force more than anything else.

More than anything, he craves a worthy opponent – someone who can finally challenge him and make him feel alive.

Amazon has renewed ‘God of War’ for a second season. Ronald D. Moore, known for ‘Outlander’, will be the showrunner, and Frederick E.O. Toye, the director of ‘Shōgun’, will direct the first two episodes.

Skrein will act alongside Hurst and Patinkin, joining a cast that includes Callum Vinson as Atreus, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Max Parker as Heimdall, Alastair Duncan as Memir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok.

The series is still in the beginning phases of development. Since there isn’t a new God of War game currently announced, fans are eager for the remake of the original Greek trilogy to be released and keep them entertained.
