Okay, so season one of Paradise really threw me for a loop. I, like many viewers, totally bought into Jane – Nicole Brydon Bloom is fantastic at playing that unassuming, almost sweet character. But the reveal at the end? That she’s actually a ruthless killer with a seriously complex backstory? Completely unexpected. Season two is now dedicated to unraveling just what drove her to this, and honestly, I’m hooked. It’s a brilliant twist that completely reframes everything you thought you knew about the show.
At the end of the first season, Jane acted impulsively, making Sinatra (Julianne Nicholson) think she had murdered Xavier’s (Sterling K Brown) children. It was all a deception, though. Jane eventually revealed the truth to Xavier, but only after shooting and seriously wounding Sinatra in the neck.
In the second season, Jane keeps surprising everyone, and as expected, she’s taking on a leadership role and making many of the key decisions.

I’m so excited for season two! Bloom recently shared with TopMob that Jane, after making that shocking decision to shoot Sinatra last season, is in a really interesting place. It seems like she’s actually gained more power, and maybe even switched roles with Robinson at the beginning of this new season. It’s a total power shift!
It was great getting to learn more about Jane and spend a bit more time with her. In the first season, her character was deliberately kept mysterious and appeared and disappeared frequently, which suited her secretive and shy personality.
Now that viewers know Jane’s secret, playing her character in the second season is much more enjoyable. She’s a smart and unpredictable person, which makes it fun to explore the complexities of her personality.
Robinson, played by Krys Marshall, and Gabriela, played by Sarah Shahi, have both gone through significant changes since the beginning of the show.
Marshall explains that Agent Robinson begins season one in a relationship with a very influential figure – the head of the Secret Service, who holds a position of considerable power.
At the beginning of season two, the character is at a very low point. She’s grieving the loss of her lover, has been moved to a menial position – essentially driving Jane around and getting coffee – and her attempt to take control failed. Meanwhile, her accomplice is off on a quest to reconnect with his former partner.
Robinson doesn’t have many options left but to try again. I really enjoy playing a character who is struggling but hasn’t given up. It’s interesting to explore how she recovers and starts fresh at the beginning of the season.
Shahi described Gabriela as being like Nancy Drew – always investigating things she shouldn’t. She’s determined to fix the system she created, even if it’s difficult, and she’s incredibly curious and persistent.
It’s a risky move, and it’s hard to say if it will pay off, but she’s definitely taking a chance. Compared to last season, she’s also much more interested in uncovering what’s really going on and digging deeper into the situation.
This season features plenty of action and drama as the characters navigate a world recovering from a disaster, splitting their time between the safety of a bunker and the dangers of the outside world.
This season centers around Xavier’s search for his wife, and his discovery of the events that have unfolded beyond their seemingly perfect life. As with previous seasons, expect plenty of unexpected turns and surprises along the way.
