Next Assassin’s Creed Game Gets Concerning Update

There’s a new update about the next Assassin’s Creed game, currently known as Codename Hexe, and it raises some concerns. Ubisoft announced this game—which will follow Assassin’s Creed Shadows—some time ago. Hexe is planned to be more focused on horror and will take place during the historical European witch trials. Recent reports reveal significant changes happening during the game’s development, though details have been scarce since the initial announcement.

According to VGC, Clint Hocking, the creative director of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, has left Ubisoft. Hocking is a veteran of the company, having previously worked on early Splinter Cell games and as creative director for Far Cry 2. Ubisoft has appointed Jean Guesdon as the new head of content for the Assassin’s Creed series, and he will now lead the development of Hexe.

Ubisoft expressed gratitude for Clint Hocking’s leadership, creativity, and commitment over the years and wished him well in his future endeavors. They also confirmed that work on Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is still underway, led by an experienced team, and that the game will offer a unique experience within the Assassin’s Creed series. More details will be revealed soon.

This Move Could Delay AC Hexe

It’s always concerning when a project’s creative director changes mid-development, but this isn’t unusual. There’s no immediate reason to believe that Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe will suffer just because Jonathan Hocking is no longer leading the project.

This change could mean that the new Assassin’s Creed game, Hexe, is further along in development than we thought. Now that Stéphane Guesdon is leading the creative direction, he may make changes or add new features. This could potentially cause a slight delay in the game’s release as Ubisoft adjusts to these updates.

So, about Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe… honestly, we don’t even know when it’s coming out yet, or what we’ll be able to play it on. Fingers crossed we’ll get some solid info on that sometime in 2026!
