Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Time Jump Revealed After Kingpin Declared Martial Law

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is officially pushing Hell’s Kitchen into even darker territory.

As a huge fan of the Daredevil universe, I was on the edge of my seat during the finale of Born Again! It all came down to Wilson Fisk, brilliantly played by Vincent D’Onofrio, really taking control of New York. He basically declared martial law, which meant anyone trying to be a vigilante was suddenly a criminal. It was a total power move, solidifying his position as mayor and making it clear he’s running the city now.

A recent update about Daredevil: Born Again reveals that season 2 will jump forward in time after Wilson Fisk (the Kingpin) firmly establishes his control. This will show a New York City drastically different under his rule. According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, the new season will begin about six months after the events of the first season. You can find Scardapane’s full statement below.

Honestly, it’s a really bleak start to things. Fisk’s completely taken over, and the city feels like it’s under his control. We jump ahead about six months, and you can feel his influence everywhere. But, thankfully, a resistance is starting to form – a real underground movement is brewing, and that gives me a little hope. It’s a cool setup, seeing how everyone reacts to this new status quo.

New York City is changing dramatically. You could say it’s being revitalized, or you could say it’s falling apart. And the people living there are also being affected by major political forces.

The new season jumps ahead in time, so viewers will see Hell’s Kitchen dramatically changed. Instead of focusing on the initial chaos after martial law, the show explores what happens once Fisk has been in power for a while and has begun to rebuild the city in his image. This allows the creators to raise the tension and show a New York that feels even more controlled and oppressive than before.

I’m so excited to hear Charlie Cox is coming back as Daredevil! It sounds like his fight with Fisk isn’t finished, which is fantastic. And a lot of the original cast is returning too – Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake, Elden Henson as Foggy, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and even Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones! Matthew Lillard is joining the fun as well. The one bummer? Sadly, Jon Bernthal won’t be back as the Punisher this season, which is a real shame.

Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, continues to be the main focus of the story. The first season showed him gaining political power, eventually leading to martial law and a harsh crackdown on anyone trying to fight crime outside the law. Now, in season two, Fisk is already firmly in control, no longer just striving for power. This changes the dynamic with Daredevil: instead of trying to stop Fisk from becoming powerful, Daredevil will be challenging an established and powerful ruler.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is now being filmed as Marvel Studios continues to develop its more grounded, street-level stories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Born Again is a significant effort to firmly place Daredevil back as a key character in the MCU, building on the previous work of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in other Marvel projects.

The show’s decision to jump forward in time shows they’re confident in the overall story of Born Again. By letting some events happen behind the scenes, the series can delve deeper into the complex effects of Fisk’s power on people and society. The next season will likely focus even more on political drama and moral dilemmas, and the time jump will help raise the stakes.

The story will jump forward six months, which means relationships between characters – who’s friends and who’s enemies – could change significantly. Now that Wilson Fisk has a strong position in the city government, anyone opposing him will probably have to work in secret. This creates a dangerous and exciting situation, with hidden heroes facing off against a powerful mayor’s office.

With the premiere of season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again just around the corner, the show will explore what happens when someone trying to do the right thing is driven underground. The story picks up some time later, making things even more challenging for Matt Murdock and turning Daredevil into more than just a crime fighter – he becomes a symbol of resistance.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premieres March 24 on Disney+.
