It is with deep sadness that Ganymede & Titan shares news from the family of Rob Grant. Rob, the co-creator of the beloved comedy series Red Dwarf, passed away unexpectedly yesterday, February 25th, 2026. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fans worldwide.
Red Dwarf’s First Release in 6 Years Was Just Announced

Just a few weeks ago, it was announced that Doug Naylor was writing a new Red Dwarf novel, Titan, in collaboration with Andrew Marshall – but that announcement turned out to be a bit early. While the news thrilled fans, the writers recently clarified to Ganymede & Titan that some of the initial details weren’t entirely accurate.
Some bookstores jumped the gun and started selling copies of RD’s new novel, Titan, before it was officially released. This happened even before the final edits were completed! They’ve also announced a release date in July, which we weren’t expecting and haven’t confirmed yet. We’re still working on finalizing everything.
The complete story outline for the new novel has been shared. It’s a prequel featuring young versions of the main characters, Arnold Rimmer and Dave Lister, in an adventure that takes place before the disaster on the Red Dwarf, which destroyed the ship’s crew. More details about the book are available at Ganymede & TV. Hopefully, it will still be published, allowing fans to remember and celebrate Grant Naylor’s work through this story.
Our thoughts go out to all of Rob Grants friends and family.
