Ryan Gosling will always make time for the Barbie to his Ken.
Ryan Gosling sweetly acknowledged his partner, Eva Mendes, while pretending to play Jeopardy! as part of a promotional appearance for his new movie, Project Hail Mary, which comes out on March 20th.
On February 26th, in a clip posted to Instagram, host Ken Jennings revealed that Ryan was winning before presenting the Final Jeopardy question. The clue was, “This particular injury has been reported in the news since at least 1967, when it occurred to Red Sox player Jim Lonborg.”
One contestant correctly answered “ACL,” giving him the lead, but Ryan chose to admit he wasn’t very knowledgeable about sports.
On his screen, the actor from The Notebook displayed the message “What is… IDK?” followed by a loving message to his wife, Eva, saying “I [heart] Eva.”
Ryan, who shares 11-year-old Esmerelda and 9-year-old Amada with Eva, thought he’d lost after giving his answer. But surprisingly, the playful response actually helped him win!
According to the judges, that’s acceptable,” Ken stated. “An ACL tear is sometimes referred to as an IDK, which stands for internal derangement of the knee. Good job, Ryan.”
He added, “What a hail mary from our champion Ryan Gosling.”
The video also included a nod to Project Hail Mary, the exciting science fiction story from Andy Weir’s 2021 novel. The official Jeopardy! account even joked about the moment, tweeting that Ryan Gosling had “thrown a Hail Mary” during Final Jeopardy!
Ryan wasn’t the only one happy about his pretend victory. Eva was also delighted that the 45-year-old ‘won,’ particularly because she had a small role in it.
The actress from Hitch shared a video on Instagram celebrating her appearance on Jeopardy, with the caption, “Believe in the Hail Mary!”

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes began their relationship after appearing as a couple in the 2012 movie A Place Beyond the Pines.
Three years after the film came out, Ryan shared with Hello magazine that he’s confident he’s with the right person. He sweetly said his favorite thing about his partner is simply, “She’s Eva Mendes.”
As he put it, “There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”

For Ryan, life with Eva and their daughters Esmeralda and Amada is “heaven.”
He described his life as blissful, saying it felt like ‘walking through a field of flowers every day.’ In a 2016 interview on Good Morning America, he explained he felt surrounded by wonderful people – ‘angels’ – and that they brought light to difficult times.

When Ryan won a Golden Globe for La La Land in 2017, he dedicated the award to Eva and her late brother, Juan Carlos Méndez Jr. In his speech, he explained that while he was enjoying making the film, Eva was raising their daughter, pregnant with their second child, and supporting her brother as he fought cancer.
Ryan continued, “If she hadn’t taken on so much to allow me this opportunity, someone else would definitely be standing here today. So, thank you, honey.”

Eva Longoria always believed motherhood wasn’t in her future, until she met Ryan Gosling, as she jokingly puts it.
She explained to Women’s Health in 2019 that falling in love with him was the reason she wanted to be a parent – not to have children of her own, but to help raise his. She emphasized that this desire was uniquely tied to him.

In 2019, Eva described life with Ryan as parents of two young daughters to Access, saying it was a mix of “fun, beautiful, and completely crazy.”
She admitted it was challenging. ‘At the end of the day, after the kids are in bed, Ryan and I often just look at each other, relieved that we made it through okay.’

In May 2020, Eva explained to a fan on Instagram that she and Ryan prefer to keep their family life private. She shared that she doesn’t discuss Ryan’s parenting because she values keeping that aspect of their lives personal.
I’m happy to share what I’m comfortable with, but I’d prefer to keep my partner and children from getting too involved. I hope that makes sense – it’s just being honest about what I feel is right.

Likewise, Ryan didn’t really have baby on the brain until Eva came along.
In a 2023 interview with GQ, Ryan Gosling confessed that he hadn’t considered having children before meeting Eva Mendes. However, once he did, he knew he only wanted to start a family with her.
Ryan shared that while filming The Place Beyond the Pines, he felt a strong connection with his costars and admitted, “There were times when acting like a family didn’t feel like acting anymore. I genuinely wanted that to be real life – it’s a life I would have been very happy to have.”

When it comes to parenting, Ryan also admittedly looks to his longtime love.
I really rely on Eva,” he shared with GQ in 2023. “She always has a clear sense of what matters, and just seems to know instinctively. Whenever I’m overthinking things, I go to her for advice.

Looking back on his life before meeting Eva, the actor from The Notebook explained, “I was searching for someone like her.”
He added, “But it all makes sense now.”

After the hit movie Barbie, Eva publicly showed her support for Ryan, praising him on Instagram in January 2024. She acknowledged the criticism he faced when he first took on the role, writing, “So proud of my man.”
Even with all the criticism and negative attention, he developed a truly original, funny, and deeply moving character that has become legendary – and he managed to get it recognized all the way up to the Oscars.

Eva says working with Ryan Gosling on The Place Beyond the Pines was a transformative experience. In a March 2024 interview on Today, she described his acting process as unlike anything she’d ever witnessed.
The actor explained that he’s dedicated to his work and strives for perfection, not just in his own performance, but also in helping his fellow actors deliver their best work.

But for Ryan, Eva is the one doling out the acting lessons.
He told Extra in May 2024 that she’s the best acting coach he’s ever worked with, praising her endless support and guidance.
