The mystery of who assaulted Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) on Coronation Street has been solved, and it wasn’t Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) after all.
They met at the Chariot Square Hotel and both went to the bar to drink, feeling down. Afterwards, they went back to his room where Bernie ordered drugs and made a pass at her.
She quickly stepped back, firmly stating her loyalty to her husband, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), and then left. Later that night, after the party went on, she was discovered unconscious in a nightclub bathroom.

Mal arrived at Roy’s Rolls because she was hired as an electrician to repair the faulty wiring in the apartment upstairs. Bernie was upset to learn he’d be working with her and told her to stay away from him.
He confessed he still thought about their kiss, but she reacted by threatening to kill him if he didn’t leave. Not long after, as if ripped from a dramatic television show, he was attacked.
Bernie was arrested, but she protested her innocence.

This episode opens with her finding herself locked up and immediately asking her son, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), to get her out. Kit explained he wasn’t officially involved in the investigation, but he was doing what he could to stop anyone from discovering her whereabouts.
Detective Browning questioned her about her relationship with Mal, and she unintentionally admitted they’d met a few weeks before he started working at the cafe. This made her look guilty.
Kit came home and admitted to his girlfriend, Sarah Platt, that he was the one who pushed Mal, causing him to have a heart attack.

Sarah pleaded with him to admit the truth and help Bernie, but he refused, saying he couldn’t risk losing his job. He hoped evidence would surface to show Bernie wasn’t to blame.
Luckily, security camera footage from Dev’s shop proved she wasn’t there when Mal was attacked, so she was set free.
But how long can Kit keep his cover?
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Before TopMob, he was a Soaps Reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and he’s even worked on set for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which is amazing! He really understands the world of soaps.
