Despite recent dips in quality, the One-Punch Man anime continues to be popular. When it first aired in 2016, it was praised for its impressive animation, and many fans still consider the first season the best. However, the animation quality noticeably dropped in Season 2 after a change in studios. Although fans were disappointed, they were optimistic about Season 3, which was announced in August 2022. After over three years of development, expectations are high for a significant improvement, even though the same studio, J.C.Staff, is still in charge.

The One-Punch Man manga has reached an impressive sales milestone. Remarkably, it has outsold Black Clover, a very popular manga with more published volumes, in total copies printed and distributed. This shows that One-Punch Man‘s success isn’t just because of its anime adaptation – it’s popular on its own merits. This is further proven by the fact that sales hit a new high before the latest anime season aired. Before Season 3 began last year, a new volume was released, and the series already had 35 million copies in circulation.
Generally, anime adaptations help manga sales, but this latest volume only sold one million more copies than the last. This suggests the recent anime release didn’t significantly impact sales. A better-quality anime likely would have led to even higher sales numbers. Still, it’s great to see One-Punch Man manga continue to gain popularity even though the anime isn’t as strong as it once was. With several volumes still being translated and made available internationally, the series has potential to grow even more and achieve further success, no matter how the anime does.
