Everyone, we’re excited to share the TopMob Going Out team’s review of ‘Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular‘ – the show you’ve all been waiting for!

This popular live show debuted at the Empress Museum in West London in September 2024 and, due to its success, has been extended to run until September 2026.

So, what is Come Alive? Is it a traditional stage show, a circus, or something completely different – an experience that puts you right in the action? We’re here to explain exactly what it is.

What is Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular?

I want to be clear: Come Alive isn’t based on the stage version of The Greatest Showman. It’s something completely different, not a retelling of the musical!

This isn’t just a show—it’s a completely captivating experience! It’s a circus-style performance filled with music from the movie The Greatest Showman.

We recommend arriving at the Empress Museum well before the show begins. There’s plenty to enjoy beforehand, like a circus history museum, actors mingling with the crowd, mini circus acts, and refreshments.

Let me tell you, being a part of the show itself is an experience! You’re placed right in The Five Tops, with a perfect view of everything happening in the ring. And what a show it is! It’s a classic variety performance – think breathtaking aerialists, skilled tightrope walkers, and even fire juggling. But it’s not just traditional circus; there’s a lot of singing, dancing, and they really get the audience involved. It’s a really fun, energetic spectacle.

The circus features amazing singers who perform songs from The Greatest Showman during the show, adding to the excitement of the acts.

Although it’s not a traditional play, the songs are connected by a main storyline. The story centers on Max, who supports his partner as she pursues her dream of becoming a showman, and the competition between two different circus groups.

Is Come Alive worth it?

The Going Out team received an invitation to Come Alive, and we honestly didn’t know what it would be like. We were completely blown away by the experience!

Our visit began with a guided tour of an exhibition detailing the circus’s history, including famous circus families and the story behind the dazzling costumes. We then walked past a hallway of framed circus photos and entered the Zoetrope Bar, where we were instantly greeted by a juggler and members of the cast.

This venue is absolutely massive – it felt like it went on forever as we explored the tents, decorated streets, fortune tellers, costume areas, and all the food and drink stalls. Before the main show even started, there were circus acts and actors mingling with the crowd, and you could tell a lot of thought and care went into every single detail of the setting.

The entertainment before the show was really engaging, and we highly suggest getting there early to enjoy it all.

We had great seats in the Yellow Zone, just one row back from the front, but honestly, this is a small enough venue that every seat seems to have a good view. If you’re in the front rows or on the aisle, the performers will likely come and interact with the audience throughout the show.

The show featured a stunning variety of acts, including aerial hoops, tightrope walking, fire juggling, silk dancing, and trapeze. One act was especially unforgettable – a performer danced while suspended by her hair! Throughout the performance, the incredibly talented cast also sang, danced, and got the audience involved.

The show is visually stunning, but the storyline involving Max, Cory, and the circus performers feels a bit confusing. Adding more conversation could help clarify things, though the incredible acrobatics and wonderful music still make it very enjoyable.

The performers were incredibly happy, beaming throughout their amazing and physically demanding routines. Our singers and actors brought a lot of energy to the stage, lifting everyone’s spirits and building excitement for the show.

If you’re tall, you might find the legroom a bit tight. However, we didn’t think it was a major issue because the show wasn’t very long, and you can always stand up and sing along at the end!

Is Come Alive! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular a good show? Definitely! You don’t even need to know the musical The Greatest Showman to enjoy it. Everyone will be amazed by the incredible acrobatics, energetic performers, and the way the show completely pulls you into its world.
