Resident Evil’s Future to be Discussed at Capcom After Code: Veronica Remake’s Release – Rumor

Despite the successful launch of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom is now analyzing data to plan the future of the Resident Evil series. According to insider Dusk Golem, the company is reviewing everything from game reviews to player comments to help shape upcoming titles. However, these discussions won’t happen until 2027, after the expected release of the Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake.

Dusk Golem shared that Capcom is paying attention to how players and critics are reacting to the Resident Evil 4 remake, and will use that feedback when planning future games in the series. Both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Requiem have received very positive reviews – 94 and 88 on Metacritic, respectively. How well the upcoming Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake is received will also influence Capcom’s decisions.

According to a post on social media by Dusk Golem, Capcom relies heavily on data. They’re closely tracking how players respond to Resident Evil 9, just as they have with previous games. This includes monitoring reviews, considering general feedback, and likely conducting a survey soon to gather more input from players.

In 2027, after the release of the Code Veronica Remake, the team will hold a major meeting to discuss player feedback and data. They’ll use this information, along with insights from Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 9, and the Code Veronica Remake, to plan the future direction of the Resident Evil series.

Capcom is reportedly well into development of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, with plans to release it in the first half of 2027. This timing would align with the release schedules of recent Resident Evil games, starting with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Following the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, many fans have asked Capcom to remake Code: Veronica. This is because Code: Veronica directly continues the story of the original Resident Evil games, centering on the characters Clair and Chris Redfield.

The story begins with Claire still searching for her brother after the events in Raccoon City. Her investigation into an Umbrella Corporation facility in Paris leads to her being kidnapped and imprisoned on Rockfort Island. Meanwhile, Chris learns of her capture and heads to the island to rescue her.

I first played this game way back in 2000 on the Dreamcast, and I remember being blown away! It eventually made its way to the PlayStation 2 in 2001 and the GameCube in 2003 – that version was called Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X. And even later, in 2011, they gave it a fantastic HD makeover for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s been available on so many platforms over the years, it’s awesome!

I’m so excited, Resident Evil Requiem just came out last week! It’s available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and even the new Nintendo Switch 2. If you’re curious, I’ve written a review with all the details!
