Steam Deck OLED Prices Going Up by Almost $100 in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan

Following warnings about potential supply issues, the price of the Steam Deck OLED is increasing in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The price jump is largely due to rising RAM costs. In Japan, the 512 GB version will now cost around $635, an increase of almost $100, while the 1 TB model will be priced at approximately $730.

In South Korea, the 512 GB version will cost ₩898,000, while the 1 TB version will be ₩1,048,000. In Taiwan, prices are going up to NT$18,980 for the 512 GB model and NT$22,480 for the 1 TB version. Hong Kong, however, will not see any price increases at this time.

Komodo Station, the company selling the Steam Deck in Asia, has announced a price adjustment. While they haven’t stated a specific reason, the change is likely due to increasing shipping costs and recent shifts in exchange rates, according to reports.

In February, Valve began displaying a notice on the Steam Deck OLED product page. They also announced they had ceased production of the 256 GB LCD Steam Deck, meaning any remaining units were simply existing inventory.

Valve announced that the Steam Deck OLED is experiencing temporary stock issues in certain areas because of limited memory and storage. They also confirmed that the original Steam Deck LCD model with 256GB of storage has been discontinued and won’t be restocked once current supplies are gone.

Global shortages of computer memory are causing delays for several of Valve’s upcoming hardware products. The company announced that the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and the latest Steam Controller will now be released in the first six months of 2026.

The company confirmed they still plan to release all three products in the first six months of the year. However, they’re still working out the final prices and launch dates, and want to be sure of those details before making an announcement, as things can change quickly. They’ll share updates as soon as everything is finalized.

The ongoing RAM shortage is now impacting Sony and Nintendo as well. Reports suggest Sony might delay the release of the PlayStation 6 until 2029 because of this. Nintendo is also monitoring RAM prices and may increase the price of its products later this year. So far, neither company has officially commented on these issues.

In January, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa mentioned the company was monitoring issues like parts shortages and trade fees. He explained they were working to secure necessary components for the foreseeable future.
