Bandai Namco is removing two free games they released in 2024 from the Steam store. This means you won’t be able to buy them on Steam anymore, but if you already own them, you can still play them. If you want to keep access, be sure to get them before March 31st. The reason for this removal hasn’t been announced.
Each game now includes a notice saying, “Thank you for your support! We’re removing this game from sale on March 31, 2026. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any trouble this may cause.” You can find a list of the games being removed from Steam below.
Boomeroad
Boomerroad is a free action-adventure game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Phoenixx Inc. Players control Boomy, who uses a special boomerang to create rails for grinding as they journey to an ancient tower. Released on March 26, 2024, the game has received very positive feedback on Steam, with a 95% approval rating based on over 479 user reviews.
The game is confirmed to work on the Steam Deck – you can play it completely through. However, you might need to adjust some settings to get the best experience.
Nottolot
Released alongside Shift Happens, Nottolot is an action game where you play as a robot named Rolly. Your goal is to hack other robots and escape from the factory where you’re being held, all to finally experience the outside world. Players seem to enjoy it, with a 93% positive rating based on over 150 Steam reviews. However, Steam Deck users report that the game is currently unsupported.
It’s currently unknown why these two free games are being taken off Steam. However, since it’s around their two-year anniversary, it seems likely their publishing agreements were only for that length of time. While unusual, this is somewhat understandable for experimental free games. It’s more surprising for a typical game to have such a short agreement. For now, this is just a guess, as the official reason for their removal hasn’t been revealed.
