Shia LaBeouf Says He “Failed” His Marriage With Mia Goth

Shia LaBeouf is getting candid about his marriage with Mia Goth.

Following rumors of a private split last year, the actor from Holes explained the reasons behind his separation from the star of Frankenstein, whom he married in 2016.

Shia LaBeouf, 39, recently discussed his divorce on the February 28th episode of Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan. He explained that he believes there’s a reason he’s going through this difficult time, and it isn’t a fresh heartbreak. While he didn’t want to share many details – stating it wasn’t his story alone to tell – he admitted he was responsible for the failure of his marriage and is taking accountability for his actions.

For him, owning up to that led him to New Orleans.

That’s why I ended up moving here,” he explained. “I was starting to get back on my feet and actually having fun, but then I ran into a problem.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Shia LaBeouf – Shia! – was talking about getting arrested at Mardi Gras! Apparently, on February 17th, something went down and he was arrested for… battery? Shia, who has publicly discussed his struggles with addiction, revealed he was intoxicated during the recent altercation. He explained that he had broken nine months of sobriety, and while he’s worked on getting sober before, his longest period of abstinence lasted around two years.

He explained that he had been sober for about a year leading up to his daughter’s birth, and that after she arrived, things simply became…well, life. It was a return to the everyday challenges and joys of living.

You know, as someone who’s built a career on helping others find their footing, I often feel a huge responsibility. People rely on me to be a source of strength and stability, to model a balanced life. But at the end of the day, I’m just human, and I have my own struggles, just like everyone else. It’s a good reminder that perfection isn’t the goal – authenticity is.

Mia, 32, and Shia have had an on-again, off-again relationship since 2012, and they generally keep the details to themselves. However, they’ve always been happy to share their affection for their daughter.
